Becker knife interest!

I've been seeing a lot of posters signatures say "Beckerhead" or mention Becker in some way which has made me interested in these knives and if they're something I should look at buying!

I've been researching a bit and seems like they're great fixed blades for outdoors and EDC activities. Is Becker some of the best fixed blades out there? Why is everyone so obsessed with them? :)

Thanks!
Zack

Very well designed, made of a high quality carbon steel for a VERY reasonable price.

Plus they are modable which makes them fun to personalize.

Once you own one, you will understand. Beckers are one-hell-ofa knife for their cost. You get a durable, reliable knife at a fraction of the cost of other brands. I have put mine thru the "paces", and have been nothign but pleased.

Price to performance is huge for me because I don't make the big bucks. Becker and kabar offer so much quality for the price its crazy.

I own three myself: a BK5, BK2 and I just traded my Izula for a BK14. (Yes, the Eskabar is better than the Izula, imo) The Eskabar is a great starter Becker. It is the cheapest one, EDC-able and its also fun to cord wrap the handle.

I look at Beckers as Very hi quality sharpened blade-blanks. I dont have to pay for fancy sheaths, finishes/coatings and scales. I buy them to mod, I can spend x amount of dollars on a Becker, do something I love (working with my hands, learning new skills, making a vision in my head reality) and end up with a knife as nice-looking (IMO) and as good a quality as a brand worth xx amount of dollars, AND the satisfaction of doing it myself.

The Beckers are also 100% quality and useable right out of the box...just no-frills American Steel ''muscle''!

If Beckers were cars they'd be a vintage Chevelle with a super-charged Big Block V8!

Is Becker among the best outdoor blades out there? Yes!!

The beauty is, you can spend as much or as little as you want.

Out of the box you get a fantastic piece of steel with all the parts to make a complete package. Some love grivory. Some hate it. Many replace it with micarta. Many replace sheaths. Many don't. It's all about what you want. But with a low buy in price, you can get a very capable package and still have money left over if you do want to customize and get exactly what you want. Or save you money for more supplies or more steel. Your choice.

Buy Becker. You won't be disappointed.

Damn, don't let your current girlfriend read that!

OP - I can only echo what the other's have already stated. The cost vs. quality ratio is really what sold me.
Im in Arkansas...my GF can't read. ;)

Beckers FTW!

I think it's time this thread had more gratuitous BK&T porn!

who's with me?

Wow I'm glad I asked this question. That's awesome that they're so customizable! I'm looking at getting the smaller bk2 and then the bk7 for more camling/outdoors use. What kind of mods are out there that I can buy? Or is it more of a do it yourself? I'm not very good at customizing but would love to see some examples and try to learn!

I got my first Becker in February and now I have 3. I was drawn to the rabid fan base as much as to the quality / price ratio. I really haven't found anything that I would change about the BK-2. I've heard that some wanted a lighter alternative and now we have the tweeners. What a great company!! And they make a superior product at a very reasonable price!

My minor contribution to the beautification of this thread. :D

I'm jealous thrill. All my life I've been searching for that perfect girl, you know, the one that doesn't speak English and doesn't know how to press charges....

Beckers are high value tools built for comfort and hard use. Saw them on the net and could tell just by looking that I'd love the handles, then I actually held one (BK2). Wish I'd known about Beckers a long time ago.

Like everyone has said, The American quality for the price just can't be beat. These knives are tough as hell. And the customizable factor is pretty cool too.

Stick around and you'll see tons of cool "How to" threads. Most of the mods are fairly simple to do. And very rewarding to make these knives your own. Buy one without delay. You'll thank yourself as soon as you have one in your hand.

I second starting off with a 14!! Talk about value ratio. Costs like a third of what an Izula costs, especially if you go through a certain very large, well known online retailer.

Mine stripped and patinad:
