Becker knife interest!

Once you buy one, you will get bitten! lol! Bought a 14 a couple months ago, week later got the 2. Just bought a 16, then the damn 4 come out! What to do? Lol! I bought it! Just ordered a 9 and buying a 5 tonight. I do love that 5! Can't wait to put it through the paces. Now if I can only hide the UPS truck from my wife!

Becker is the very best "cheaply priced" knife you can buy. You would have to spend a lot more to get a marginal improvement.

Beckers are AWESOME because: You don't pay for stuff you don't need & may not be to your liking anyways, example: sheath. Even the kydex sheaths for ESSE are not for me. The handles are VERY comfy, yet you can upgrade to micarta if you wish. Basically they are the knife for the bluecollar workingman. You can mod them yourself as well & make it 100% custom for you. They are tough as any knife out there. The maker is on here as well, Ethan Becker.

For about a month or so now my BK-11 has been used as my straight razor. I shave with it.

The Woman says I ain't right.

Right there is another reason Becker knives are so cool. The main man is right here, engaged with his fan base. How many company owners/directors can you say that about?

And the knives themselves? Great pieces of steel, super comfortable to use, take a beating and laugh in its face, from the BK-11 Necker right up to the BK-9, affectionately known in these parts as The King.

Here's my BK-11 taking a well earned break:

I registered a little more than 2 years ago because I wanted to read reviews about the K-Bar Camp knife. I then got involved in motorcycles, retirement, etc. The knife bug recently bit again and I thought it might be time to get away from big knives (K-Bar USMC, Kukri's, RTAK-2, etc.) and look for a medium knife. I ordered a RAT-5, which is very nice for the price but the handles are a bit small for me. I'm not that big of a guy but I take an XL or 2XL in gloves.

I then ordered a BK-2 and it arrived 2 days ago. Wow.? Now that is what I call a knife and the handle is perfect fit. Where have you been all my life? Where is that list of Becker models so I can buy some more? Thanks, Ethan for a wonderful product. My wife and my bank account will not be thanking you any time soon. Now if I could just find a bigger handle for the RAT-5.

Qualify this statement with "that are Made in USA", and that would be accurate. Except for the sheath but we're working on changing that:D

This is the main reason I bought my Becker knife, it's "Made in USA". I'm spending my American dollars on products made in America by Americans.

I like 'em because they're so tactical black. But then I'm a tactical badass...

Wow I'm glad I asked this question. That's awesome that they're so customizable! I'm looking at getting the smaller bk2 and then the bk7 for more camling/outdoors use. What kind of mods are out there that I can buy? Or is it more of a do it yourself? I'm not very good at customizing but would love to see some examples and try to learn!

Zookie, welcome.
I'm just kidding about being such a tactical badass. I seldom actually wear that gas mask.

The 2 and 7 are an awesome combo. The 2 and the 9? Even better, but I'm partial.
As for mods, lots of folks strip 'em so they have to wipe down and/or oil their knives on a regular basis. :D
With the stock grivory scales, you can tape, stipple, cover, sand blast, you name it.
Some folks have ground their Beckers into "It used to be a Becker but now..." shapes.
Micarta scales are available for the knives for an extra cost. These are excellent scales made by Ka-Bar.
On the secondary market, however, there are all sorts of custom scales, from wood to G10 to glow-in-the-dark stuff.

I hope you get a Becker, try it out, and hang around for the fun. And the tactical badassness.

hahaah that is too funny. Even more so because its a gerber that's on his "hip"

Ssssssshhhhhh. Don't blow my cover, or I'll infract your ass. :p

Outstanding first post. Welcome to Bladeforums! And a fine 2+ year period of lurking I might add.
For a list of various models, look on the Becker forum page and find the Becker Database up in the stickies. All sorts of info about Beckers, past and present.
Tomar's Ka-Bars is an excellent site to see what is currently available in the Becker lineup. Good prices and great customer service.
