Anyone have, use the Becker Kukri ?

I would love to get my hands on one, but they are out of production it seems, so let me live through you vicariously.

Pics, vids, tales of how it saved your life.....

The Reinhardt Khuk?

You need to talk to Bladite. He is the master of the Machax.
The person I know who uses one the most, however, is Doc Canada. I'll see if I can get him to chime in or find past post.

He means this one, Pimp Biscuit.

No, I don't use it. And yes, I got it from Biscuit.

Yeah, I posted that and then realized he meant the Reinhardt. And then went looking for a pic.
You don't see 'em used much. In fact, other than some testing pics at Ethan's (by Moose) and my own picture, I don't think I've seen any user pics.
Though I don't have the crazy numbers of Beckers I used to, I have kept a user in every major design, collaboration or otherwise. Aside from the BK8.
And I do seem to keep finding Beckers in odd places. Maybe another Reinhardt will pop up. :p I'm thinking I may put some of the Ka-Bar micarta on mine and use it more often.

Actually both of those pics make me happy..lol I have an Ontario Kuk but haven't worked it out as much as I would like yet.
I have a feeling I would LOVE a Becker Kuk.

I see that, but you were quoted for posterity. :D

We beat Uncle E's up some at his place, that poplar, and a decent swing. Chops better than any knife I used before, honestly. I would hate to see what it would do to a person. <shivers>

If I were a touchy soul, I would just edit that brain fart out. But I'm more honey badger than touchy soul. :p

Frankly, it's a Becker that comes up so infrequently that it wasn't the first thing that came to mind.
"He must mean the Machax" was my translation.

Silverthorn, I've been cutting a lot of vegetation around my house with a regular old $6 Tramontina.
More work to do this weekend. Maybe I can break out the Reinhardt and take a few pics. I might test it with some Ka-Bar micarta.

This and the machax are two blades I've wanted to get my hands on since I first read the database. Hopefully this sees production as well.

well, easy thing to think... the reinhardt kukri is the REINHARDT khukri :) there's a stunning blackjack version (someonday at a good price), but when i think "Becker khukri", the machax comes to mind, natch.

and yes, old Doc there does use his a lot. it's a very usable design. lately, i don't get enough dirt time, but whenever i go camping the last few years, there's always a Becker, and it's usually a Machax... always have one handy for helping friends with yard chores, clearing limbs, and other work. if i had my own property to maintain, there would be one hanging by the door, for immediate 24x7 use. just in case :> zombie bushes and stuff. always cropping up.

both are good designs, but one of them is much more rare, ya know?

so, i have used my one, original, non epoxy Reinhardt a fare bit, but then i got into HI khukris, and they chop BETTER (sorry, they do) for me, and i retired the Reinhardt for other duties as it was now too valuable (and rare) for me to use regular. if i can scare up some new ones, that might change.

unfortunately, the era of most of my use was before digitals, and it never occurred to me to take pictures of ... work :)

even generally speaking, even user testing of different things i've been handed over the years, pre-dates a lot of the forum activity, and there's even few film pictures left (or that i know the location of)... these things happen.

remember kids, the Reinhardt predates the Camillus Becker line by years. YEARS.

so many people think Camillus is the end all, be all of the Becker line - black knives all. most of y'all have never beheld a pre-Camillus Becker. which is a shame, as most of them were LOVELY. the Machax of that time was perfection.

Sure, rub it in. :(

I also own a HI khukri (15.5" CAK) but I still prefer my (Cincinatti) Machax.

And Guyon, thanks for thinking about me. :D

Man that's awesome. Any chance of a raid on the old cinci warehouse will yield another beckerhead special? Dreams.....

Now I feel really bad I didn't pick up the one in the for sale section last week, just didn't have the $$.

yeah, yeah, old, but with respect. like old yeller :) you're probably one of the first people i know of that comes to mind when i think "long time machax wielder", other than say, Ethan, and Guyon. yah, we gots some others too, but it just doesn't seem like that many people have pre-Camillus models. at all. drat.

well, i hope in the goodness of time, or 6 months or so, a LOT of people suddenly get to enjoy the Machax at least as half as much as i have, and keep most of their fingers too :)

oh, dangle? what dangling. the machax is a sure thing. i'm not sure when, exactly, never know with those wiley guys at KaBar. could be a month. could be Xmas, or ShotShow, or Blade show... they're working on it. i've fondled the prototypes many times. good stuff. iirc, it's been shown in pictures at the Gathering, and Ethan has spoken in it some in various venues, and video too.

oh, see if you can't edit out that tapatalk advert ;) stupid software keeps advertising itself when i hit the forums on a smart device. at least it stopped after a few go rounds, probably a cookie, it'll be back ;P i've been told as well, the tapatalk doesn't show signatures, and sort of glosses over various forums features, making your life harder in some ways (but simpler because you don't know you're missing out). compare to the web version sometime, and let me know how that works out.
