The idea is simple. Move your body. Get fitter.
It ain't a contest. It's about doing what you can do to get mobile.

Between the dates of June 1 and June 30, the challenge is to earn 50 Becker Points. Points can be earned in the following fashion:

1 mile (1.6 km) on foot = 1 Becker Point
4 miles (6.4 km) road cycling = 1 Becker Point
2 miles (3.2 km) mountain biking = 1 Becker Point
1 mile (1.6 km) swimming = 6 Becker Points

If you just do one thing, you'll need to hoof it 50 miles, or road bike 200 miles, or mountain bike 100 miles, or swim 8.3 miles. But you can combine items to build toward 50 Becker Points in any fashion you choose. Honor system in play.

The reward? You'll feel better, and you'll be participating with a group of supportive peers.

I'll start this month's off.

Thanks rokclmb. I missed my 50 last month. I was set up to make it, but sinusitis laid me low on Thursday. Did not get in my Thursday and Saturday runs.

I started the month off with a 8+ mile trail run on June 1.

I just moved and was out exploring some new running trails. Part of the trail ran up a small river. Then the trail took a sharp turn UP. The trail was going to the top of Ogusuyama (Mt. Ogusu) which is the tallest point on the Miura Peninsula at 242m (794ft) elevation.

Now I'm going to flood you with a few photos from the run.

Now doesn't that clear up where to go?

There were a LOT of steps going up Ogusuyama.

It's kind of hard to tell but this section is very steep.

There is an incredible view from the top of the mountain. Unfortunately it wasn't that clear of a day. I'll post some views from the top when I run up again.

8 BP for June

Thanks for starting this one up, rokclmb. Great photos! So I actually read beyond the swimming points and realized I've not earned as many points as I thought I did.
30 miles on the road bike. 7.5 BP for the start.

I've got a question that is related to running and Beckers. When I run, I wear a running vest to hold my ID, phone, water and some food. I'd like to carry a small knife with me, especially when running trails. I'm considering both the 13 and the 24. I know the 13 is smaller and cheaper, but then again the 24 would be a great knife of a higher quality steel. My main concern is rust. The knife will get lots of sweat and some rain. I already have a 14 that I think wouldn't be too bad to carry in my vest, but I'm concerned about rust. The 24 is just like the 14 but more rust resistant. But how rust resistant is the 24 compared to the 13?

On a side note: Neither the 24 or the 22 are listed in the Becker Blade Database. I know they're just variants of the 14 and 2, but they're not even mentioned.

Awesome pics Rok; looks very peaceful.

Ok, I gotta get myself back on the horse. Been laid up with a heal spur the last few months, but it seems like its as good as it'll get, so I'll learn to live with limping around after my walks are finished.

Did a small loop at the dog park today: 3.3kms for 1 whole Becker Point.

3.3km is 2 Becker points. 1 point per 1.6km (1 mile).

Walked 3 miles tonight.
3 BPs to start of the month.

rokclmb, as far as rust on the 24, I left mine in vinegar for 3 days and when I returned it was just barely darker gray than when I left it and had no rust visible. Same thing on my D2 EnZo trapper.
When I did that with a 1095 blade it had a lot of orange on it, and was pretty nasty at the transition point (couldn't get it all the way submerged.) My D2 Bechmade lived in the toolbox for over a year and the edge stayed shiny and new the whole time.
I think it misses the chromium content by 1 or 2%, but for all intents and purposes D2 is stainless.

Thanks for kicking off this month's thread, rokclmb  Additionally, your comment last month about starting with running a marathon's worth of miles in a month has inspired me, so thank you! I got a hydration pack/vest, an Osprey Rev 6. It has a bladder and 320 cubic inches of room. There's no lateral sway, but the arm straps chafe me some when I wear a tank top. Ah well, nothing's perfect, and I really like this little pack. Thanks for your advice on what to get a couple mnoths back. I found I like a bladder more than bottles, and I got a great deal during Amazon's outdoor stuff sale. Now onto mileage for June!

I did a trail run of 2.8 miles and 0.5 miles walking today for 3.3 miles total.

Current total BPs: 3.3

Thanks for the info. I think I'll be getting the 24 when I eventually get around to it.

Glad I could help, both with inspiration and gear.

Awesome pics as usual, Rok! I haven't put a drop of oil on my 24 since I got it and I use it to cook with as well as pocket carry. I wash it frequently in dish soap and warm water, I have micarta scales on it now and I have removed them to see if there was any rust forming under and found nothing. Like TJ said it is pretty much stainless. That being said, I have been carrying an 11 for about a month and half now in the stock sheath and have not had to do anything to the blade for rust prevention either.

Sunday I got 2.5 mile walk in
This morning I got .2 of step boxes.

2.7 ttd

Great photos, rok. I'll add a few from my 33 mile bike ride today. (8.25 + 7.5 = 15.75 BP)

Rode my bike out to the beach today. Of course, it was an awesome "beach day" here in NH, meaning it was 60-65°F and clear blue skies with a nice chilly easterly blowing off the water.

Southbound (just came from) view from Wallis Sands:

Out towards the Isles of Shoals (Smuttynose beer is named after on of these islands....yep, Smuttynose Island):
