Beckerhead at Bass Pro

Cool experience! Every time I've asked about Becker knives at Bass Pro, they say "You mean Boker, right?"

I had that exact same experience with my cousin. He asked me what the knife I had was, and I said, "Becker." He then replied, "Boker?" :D

Thanks for posting your story Hunter. :)

You have stickers????????? Do tell. You have the ability to make them or did you find them somewhere?

PM me your shipping info and exactly what you want size wise and I'll get one mailed out too you.

I'm definitely interested in this. Can you maybe post up a couple of examples that we can see?

I can just cut them out on a vinyl cutter.

I'm not sure what the copyright rules are so I would just give them away. Don't want to get in any trouble or anything.

wow cool story... I too am intrigued who it is... Buck makes entry level knives like most production manufacturers but I wouldn't necessarily call a company that's been around for over 100yrs junk :D

Don't let the folks in the Buck forum see this thread they can be pretty enthusiastic. I don't understand it myself, getting all riled up over ONE brand of knives...:D

As you all may know I work at Bass Pro Shop on the weekend selling guns and knives. Well tonight I was working the knife counter and a fella came up and wanted to check out the Buck Hoodlum so as usual I recommend he check out a Bk9 and low and behold he already had one along with the rest of the Becker line. We ended up talking Beckers and what do you know how is a member here and is curently working on getting his BH number. I'm not gunna put his name out without his permission but I thought it was cool running into him. And here I thought me and RuogBowie were the only ones around these parts.

Dude now I need to find out who this is!! Hopefully he comes forth and reveals himself, did you invite him to our lunch?

cool experience, hope the guy comes forth with this information. I'm dying to know!

Hey all it was me :D.

I was the one whom Hunter Sharp met at Bass Pro Sat night. I just ordered a BK4 and us and some SoCal members should go for a day hike so I have an excuse to carry it and try it out. It was good meeting you, Meng.

He has come forth! You should come to lunch in a week or two man, beers, Beckers, and depending on where we eat maybe babes? The details will be filled in soon hopefully.

Beckerheads are starting to be "everywhere". And that's a good thing.

There are a few folks here that have "recognized" me, its not as un nerving as it used to be. :D

The thing, we have our posters, which so much thanks is owed to ya'll, but for every poster, we have 5 lurkers.

Awesome.

I personally think that Buck does some of the best heat treat on factory knives in the world. Not as good as Becker/Ka-Bar of course, but still pretty darn good. I also think that the 110 is more or less the Becker folder, indestructable, high quality, comfortable, and high value. All IMO.
Cool, we now know! Cool stuff!

It's funny you guys talk about Buck making an entry level knife because if I remember correctly my first knife was a Buck 110 back when I was a wee lad. I am still a Buck fan and collector, see the thing is I like other knives...but I "LOVE" me some Becker knives!

I wish there was a Bass Pro Shop around NYC, closest one is in Bridgeport, CT... and that's not a location high on the "Hey let's visit!" list.

I am generally a fan of Bass Pro, at least to go look around, their prices usually arent competitive, but they need to come up with a new way to sell knives. I was there the other day and picked out a Buck 119, I get my Beckers elsewhere since as we know BP doesnt carry them. The poor clerk had to open a drawer stuffed full of about 200 empty boxes and then go thru each box trying to find the right one, only took him 20 friggin minutes. Me thinks they need a better system.

I love Beckers, but I wouldn't exactly classify the Hoodlum as 'junk'.

Still, it's good to run into Becker fans regardless of the circumstances.

It would be kind of fun to see an Ethan Becker inspired competition in Bass Pro. "Here kid, take this BK-9 and see if you can slice through that hanging rope!"

You'd have kids, and lawyers, lined up out the door.

Went into a local BP shop to check out a few things. Looked at the blades. They had ground the edges off all the display blades. :thumbdn:

At our store we, or should I say "I" have a great system! Not that I need it, I have every blade it that place memorized. I know what when where how and why when it comes to the knives. Oh and that's funny about the edges being ground off lol we leave ours sharp and trust me cuts do happen! I have been bugging the crap out of our GM to make it possible for us to carry Beckers, we carry the KA-BAR ZK line so why not! I always recommend Beckers to customers but they would rather hold the knife first before they went home and ordered one. Some day I will have a break through and I will be responsible for the sell of many many Becker Knives :D

The only time I was at a Bass Pro Shop was in TN on the way to E's. Have to say, it was overwhelming, I'd never seen an outdoors store that large, the best we can do in NYC is an REI.

Damn, that must be pretty big...I've heard that shops in the states are generally much bigger than ours and have way more cool shit so for Bass Pro to be considered a large store it must be freaking massive....I might have a heart attack if I ever go into one hahaha.
