Yea, man, I dig that setup. Looks like a no-nonsense, simple, functional solution to keep that in its pants. If only we had a solution like that for Derek. Oh well..

I might end up picking up a Mora one of these days, just to give it a shot. Never really played with a scandi.

The other day I spent sometime down at the rive harvesting dogwood bark.

Just a heads up on screw sizes.

There have been a lot of people that have found the thread pattern for the hardware on the hex cap screws they try to find is incompatible with the stock nuts holding the handle scales on. Since I replaced both the screws and the nuts, I didn't have an issue, and was able to use the 10-24 5/8" length ones, but as far as the ones included with the knives, I am thinking there is a good chance they are metric. I went today to find a screw that would fit the chicago screws on the stock BK2 sheath and discovered they were size M4-0.70, not any standard size. It looks like 8-32, but the thread pattern is just slightly finer. Just thought I might let that be known, and if the one has metric screws, good chance on the others too. I might give it a test when I get to the other hardware store later today.

you being a mod, it's already assumed that you're privy to insider info (whether it's true or not isn't really the point) than the rest of us regular joes and i interpreted your thread the wrong way. i apologize for my post in your cicada thread. in hindsight, that wasn't the appropriate thread to express my opinion.

ethan himself started 2 separate threads saying he's got 'tweener pics in hand and will post pics of them in the coming days/this weekend but never did. i'm not quoting him directly, i'm putting the links here so others can read the post directly.

it's hard for me to believe that ethan is running a mom-and-pop operation. i'm sure he's got a bit more resources than that and pics would've been posted already if that was truly the intent. i'm not calling ethan a liar, i'm just looking for a bit more transparency. if they don't want pics to come out before blade show then say so and that's fine.

i'm not trying to insult ethan or anyone else. i've given back to the becker community in the past with giveaways so clearly trolling isn't my intention here. i'm just trying to explain the reason for my post in your cicada thread. my beef doesn't even involve knives at this point, just the principle behind it that rubs me the wrong way. i guess i'm just old-fashioned, my hand-shake is as good as a signed paper contract and i treat e-mail and messages posted on a message board the same way and i just naturally expect others to do the same. with that said, this sub-forum is ethan's home and if he feels that i'm no longer welcome here i will gladly leave.

well, he is a rather busy man, many business interests, keeping kabar honest, travelling away from his home (and resources), just had a ton of tornado troubles, and he's building a camp ground for the meet'n'greet coming up. lots of effort went into making sure that moose can poop in comfort ;)

oh, he's also a luddite. maybe one day, but he keeps unlearning how to host pix, i do that a lot for him, and he has to have someone assist him. takes time. takes effort. only one ethan.

in this age of instant gratification and internet speeds it's something to realize tha some folx don't have working phones, let alone full time internet - his is dinosaur slow and often down.

i'll give him a hollar. hell, it's probably faster for him (his assisstant) to blast a dvd-r and mail it to me... hah.

so, yes, it's literally a mom and pop and son operation :)

Man, I sure am glad you posted that explanation. I was reading along about cicadas and had a WTF moment. Whew! I feel better. I thought I was getting early onset or accidentally hit the parallel universe key.

if you are confused about your screws, a BK2 can probaby solve that for you. sexually.

probably be a good idea to find a good source for the right sized screws in the materials we want online and have some resources. buy a bag of them. always have the right size for loss and replacement.

Pretty much what Bladite said is my take as well. Ethan just got done with E2E, RAT Wilderness school, outhouse construction, campsite clearing, and apparently, a fair amount of business with Joy of Cooking. Not to mention, he's got me sticking my foot in my mouth and cracking on his Laser Light Tac Tool. Add to all this the fact that Ethan would much prefer sending you developed photos of the Tweeners via snail mail, and you pretty much have your answer.

As for being an insider, maybe a little but in general, no not so much. Moose and I talk regularly, but I haven't held a Tweener whereas both Moose and Bladite have. The only pics I've seen are the ones you've seen. Of prototypes. So sadly, my cicada thread was just a cicada thread.

I am a little curious why anyone would doubt that Ethan is being disingenuous when it comes to his tech resources. Believe me, while Ethan is a smart guy, he's not esconced in the Tennessee hills developing Iron Man weapons technology. :p He's even pretty old-school when it comes to communication.

It's true that we have to post our fishing talk under the radar (via cicada threads, kayaks for Beckerheads threads, etc.), lest they be whisked off to regions unseen by forces far stronger than mere Becker mods. :p

I feel manly when I hold my peck... I mean... my Becker BK-2. Is that wrong somehow? :confused:

Finally, if Ethan reveals to the world that he actually IS Iron Man, I will retract post #732.

Just thinking about how we outta have a west coast Beckerhead get together. Maybe june 2012 ish.
Right now it seems like a good idea, and im not drunk yet so it might be, a good idea.
