Beckerhead Gathering, 2011

That just ain't right. Hauling out all that food has to be hard on those 74-year-old bones.

Looks like alot of fun.
Where do I get one of those BK&T shirts.

It was simply a great time, a gracious host, great food and we can't wait to get together again.

Yeah, I was hurtin' in that pic. Good shots, Trade, good shots. :D

Glad you made it home OK.

Moose

Brought home a friend from the gathering. He rode in my pack. Welcome to Kentucky little buddy.

Didn't know they had scorpions in Tennessee.

I didn't either. Derek said he killed one where we had our hammocks strung up, but I didn't see it. We were unpacking and Kay said "hey we brought home a friend". Now we know.

Damn, I had no idea. My sister used to live in Arizona, and they had tons of them there. You could go out in her back yard and find them easily, and tarantulas as well.

I can't see how the hell I missed this thread.

Looks like some damn good times, wish I could have been there.....bummer

Evolution of a necker.

P1020310.jpg

I wanna know more about this. There has been mention of it a couple times now. Could someone fill the rest of us in? Why did things change with the necker? That first one looks pretty nifty, and I really want the one with the Remora handle but I know that one never went into production :(

After seeing all the pix you guys posted, I really want to make it out there to the next one at Uncle E's place. I know the one out here will be a great time, but to hang with Uncle E; that would be awesome! I don't think I'd be too excited about sleeping with the scorpions though.

tradewater, Derek had already told me about killing the scorpion, so that's why I thought one might have gotten Kay. (Turned out to be a red wasp.)
FYI, for those freaking about scorpions, in these parts scorpion stings are about like getting stung from a wasp. These aren't your big desert variety scorpions.
Below, you'll notice my pack is up on logs, mainly in case it rained, but also to get it up off the ground and away from creepy crawlies. :p

Ethan said that the top knife is the one that inspired him to think about neck knives in the first place. The rest, I believe, are varied designs of his.
Regarding the "Remora" version, all I can say is that you should have attended. You might have seen one or two of those. ;)

I would have, but we had to pay for plane tickets for my wife to go to the company convention in ATL next month.

No worries. Moose says there might be something afoot as soon as the fall.

Hopefully we get ours put together out here for this fall. A few of us are working out some of the details but it should be a blast.

I spoke with Ethan today. Fall is a go. We just have to start the process of planning and organizing. Soon.

Yes, we have scorpions. They make good "stick" bait, if you pull the stingers off.

The Necker progression, is similar to the Machax evolution. E takes the idea, and runs through a few variations, till he gets what he wants. Wanna know why the tweeners took so long? Evolution.

Moose

Yeah, I got to try chopping with Machax version 1.0. Cool, but the design changes since then have been good ones.
