Hammered out another socketed spear head this afternoon

Started with a random piece of 1/4" x 2" bar.
Sharp part is a shade over 9" long and about 2 1/8" wide

So there I was, making a set of hinges and handles for a small bench box, when I thought to myself: "self, you have a hot forge and 6" scrap of 3/8" 4140. " So I made a small blacksmith knife.

Mangled a couple of good rasps to practice hammer welding

The larger one had the ends folded in before folding it in half
The smaller one is a single fold using a 9" section of rasp - I'm also forging a blacksmith knife out of the tang and last 5" I cut off.

Finished this up today. 80crv2 core with 416 stainless cladding. Wearing stabilized thuya burl scales and tuxedo liners. Just needs and edge and sheath, and ready for some work.

Do you ever watch clips from anvil Anna? She does a lot of work with rasp files, mostly making spurs.

She does other stuff, I thought she did a hatchet, hammer welding it. She has a ton of videos.
