Ok Beckerheads, this what the prototype patches may look like. Much thanks to the Great DawsonBob for the work, sorry for being an ass, I can't help it.:D

This what we are considering our PATCH to look like, not our official logo, though it would be something similar to this, just HD, and better graphics. Perhaps some different coloring and what not. I'm leaving all the creative stuff to the Master DB, as this is arena for which to do combat.

Let us know what you think, feel free to offer ideas, but don't get pissed if they are not enacted. Remember, this is a PATCH, not a Rembrandt. Quality of image will be degraded, so we can't use a full out HD pic. Plus it keeps the cost down, and allows faster manufacturing. This will be the color scheme, and the size will be standard 2"x3" with a velco back. Bon appetite.

No matter what Bob says, if it's going to be a BK2 I think it should have the tang extension :p :D

Mr. Moose, even though I do not own a Becker per say (have 2 really old Ka-Bar's from the '80's though) at this time, but after the 1st of the year I am sure one will be finding it's way to Ohio, I think the patch should represent what Becker stands for. From everything I read on here, the Becker's are kinda like a bulldozer, tank, steamroller, etc. They are not the most expensive (Rolls), not the quickest (Ferrari), not the most streamlined ('Vette), but they just get the damn job done when you need them. Maybe your patch should relay the same message as your knives do; simple, not flashy, & dependable.
Be safe.

My smartass response...

I can't believe you just dropped the corned beef and cabbage suggestion. :p

What if I did a tight crop around Ethan's noggin? Then the patch really would be a Becker head. :D

My serious answer...

I think the design is great. Love the BK-2 profile. Two questions...

1. Any chance of getting them in multi-cam? See the recent W&SS patches, for instance. Also, for another good example, Jeremy Horton just had some nice multi-cam patches made up with his logo.

2. Will these be velcro backed? ETA: Okay, I see now they'll have velcro.

Ok, now that's a good idea. If Master DB can (he can) it should have it, but I wonder if because its a silouette, if it would look strange. DB? You tha man.

I thought thats what we had. How would you suggest we simplify it and make it less flashy? Not being a smartass, that's a legit request.

Smartass reply-I hate corned beef and cabbage. Plus the patch would be the size of a dinner plate, and do you REALLY want Ethan's mug on your backpack or hat? Hell, you'd have to wear a sombero just to have enough real estate to put the damn thing on:D

We may do a "special" run of patches that the Beckerheads will have to pay for, but these here are gratis, courtesy of Ethan, for being a Beckerhead member. Multicams are about 3x the price of a 2 color patch, and since Ethan's and mine's faves are black and OD, well, there ya go.

mmm, the Beckerhead Elite :)

perhaps also putting a year on it? or associating the year of joining with THE LIST... in 2011, perhaps start with 100, unused #s will be left unused.

004-2010 :)

I like the year idea, but we will be buying bulk (over 200) of these, so they will be around a while. We will only be getting 0-200 with a Beckerhead number, the others will be generic and for other stuff that Ethan wants to do with them, his call. After 200, we may go to a different color, like maybe Brown/Black or something. We are being optimistic here, as E wants to make a purchase that will last a while.

Moose, my bad. I forgot to put that at the end of my post (half-heimers again). The patch is great as shown, & maybe the idea of a date/number/etc. might be able to be worked in as well.
Forgive me ????:)
Be safe.

I do like the year add-on. I also like the patch! Nice work. I'm a bit shocked the "Smilin' Ethan" patch hasn't been created officially.

maybe we can make a T-shirt logo with "the head" and get a cheap run done at cafe press or something :)

then we can all sport "the head" at a Blade Show or other function where he'll be at. we're safe, he never reads these threads ;)

I like this patch no frills design. Perhaps adding a simple frame around the perimeter (black or brown) would make it look even better.

A thin border might look good.
If year goes on, I think it ought to be a separate line.

Yeah actually, the more I look at it the more it looks 'clean' as is. The addition of the year would probably be too busy/crowded.

Of course, the list here could be organized by year so that, if someone wanted to know join date, he could just look it up. That would simplify things with the patches and any future numbered items. Busse used to list inductions by year.

All great ideas, DB will be readin' this soon, so ........

The 0000 represents the area of your number in a pattern of #007, #033, you see?

A border I think would look good in black.

I wanted to do a "year" color. 2010 gets OD, 2011 gets Brown, 2012 gets Gray, something like that, but it would be hard to judge the amount needed. For pricing, its just not economic.

Perhaps a * added to the original Beckerheads would be something? Perhaps a star in the corner.

Tshirts with Ethan's mug? That would be awkward at Blade, might wanna get fanboy printed on the back or sumpthing:D Plus, I think it would creep him out. Let's do it!!!!

Yeah, go ahead and complicate my life, Brian.:p

Actually, there are good reasons that there's no tang extension on that BK-2:
a.) the shape of the Becker handle is almost a trademark in itself, and very recognizable.
b.) showing the tang extension would complicate things on a small, crude, patch, and destroy the identification on the handle shape.
c.) I drew the darn thing before the new model with the extension came out.;)

All good reasons, I retract my previous statement. Moose
