Beckerhead, please sell me your reserved BK10

Right, so my goal in this is explanation, more than flaming. I did cut down some of these quotes, feel free to read the posts, IN CONTEXT if you think I'm taking them OUT OF CONTEXT. And I'm going to explain how you sound to me, and why I think people were a bit bothered by the request. I don't want you to be sour on BK&T, the forums, or the community. I'd rather you understood, then became an active member of the community.

Wow. Holy sh-t. ... Pretty sure this is NOT a club I want to be a part of now.
Were you a part of it before? You have to be active to be a part of a club, so the other members KNOW YOU. 1 thread started here and no posts to speak of? You can be a member of the club, get a number, and all that. But you're not now. Not yet.

...And just because I dont post in the forums all of the time does make me any less of a Becker fan.
You could be the biggest BK&T fan on the planet, but if you're not here, posting on the forums as a member of this online community, how would we know?

... I just haven't had the time to meet the "Beckerhead" requirements. If anyone would get me one with their Beckerhead status
UCPOPO: Join Date 12-02-2010 ... That's several months. If you wanted a BH# there was plenty of time. This makes you look (and I'm not saying you are) like a liar.

... I'm a police officer
So... Why bring this up if not to use it for sympathy or to tug at heartstrings? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the impression I got was. AND I'M ENTITLED TO THIS! This was the single thing that upset me the most, FYI.

... Im not really a 'forum guy' and I see why now.
Indeed. If you only show up when you want something, and are not a member of the community... Do you understand how we (or at least myself) might perceive that?

I hope this has been cleared up for you. I am now washing my hands of this thread.

Good day

This may be one of the dumbest things ive read to date on here. It really doesnt warrant a response.

Cool, then don't respond. Oh, oops, too late.

Calling me corrupt for looking for a knife is funny.

And now I'd like to say that I hope you observe, listen, write reports and testify in court more accurately than you read and reply on message boards. I didn't "call you corrupt." I said I hoped you follow the law better than you followed the rules for this group buy. It's not semantics. There's a huge difference between what I actually said and what you accuse me of saying, and the evidence of that is right there in your post for anyone to see because you quoted it.

However, I would like to say thank you for your service sir in Vietnam and protecting out countries freedoms while risking your life. For that I am in debt to you.

I can't tell you how much this means to me considering that it ends a paragraph that started out saying that what I said, including having served in Nam, was the dumbest thing you ever read on here.

But you missed the point anyway. I only said anything about my time in the Army to demonstrate my belief that service to one's community and/or country should not be a reason for them to expect/demand/ask for/feel entitled to perks for every little thing. I sure wasn't fishin' for thank you's, and you are most certainly not indebted to me in the least, nor is any other American.

For the couple or three guys that questioned my understanding of the rules, well, maybe you're right. Maybe no one at Ka-Bar or Ethan or any of the mods would've cared if someone had sold their Beckerhead status for a non-BH to get a knife that was reserved for us at a special price. That would surprise me that it wouldn't bug anyone, but hey, I've been mistaken before, and I could be this time too. It struck me the way it struck me though, and I told it the way I saw it. I do realize this is a place where we come to get away from serious, contentious and controversial subjects, so sorry if I harshed anyone's mellow. Never was real good at biting my tongue though. (Shrug)

But the BH sale is over now and everyone has the same shot at getting the Limited Edition BK10 as the next guy, and seriously, I hope all who want one, get one. It's not like I wished the OP to be closed out of getting one. Just wanted him to wait his turn is all, just like most of us were chompin' at the bit for the day for us to take our turns to get here. Some of us might even be trying to order a second, third or fourth one on Monday. Let's just hope that doesn't get someone's junk kicked in Oklahoma.

Alright everyone, let's cut UCPOPO some slack. His join date was 12/02/2010... Hell, I did not even join until 02/27/2011.

Browsing his posting activity:

15 posts in "For Sale: Production Knives (Individual)"
06 posts in "General Knife Discussion"
02 posts in "Automatic Knife / Switchblades"
01 posts in "Sheaths & Such"
01 posts in "STR's Backyard KnifeWorks"
01 posts in "Boker USA"

Reviewing his threads/posts and the respective forums they were created in, simple observations show that historically he appears to use Bladeforums as a sales vehicle. This particular instance, trying to make higher profit margins on the resale of a BK10. Whether or not that is his actual intention, this is the United States of America and our financial system in place is based off of capitalism. So in theory, even if he completely planned on buying the BK10 at the discounted Beckerhead member price and his goal was to flip a lightning deal, he's simply engaging in daily American life.... buy low, sell high.

If he was purchasing the knife for actual admiration/desire to put that knife to work in whatever manner that provides him satisfaction, then one of his offenses was directed to the Becker Knife & Tool community and even more-so to the Beckerhead members whom made it a specific point to meet the defined credentials to achieve that status. Granted, the offense was unintentional, he was unaware of the history of the plans for this particular knife (and the loyalty of the Beckerheads to KA-BAR, BK&T, BFC and our fellow members), however his approach of it was also abrasive which elevates everyone's responses.

The second offense (in my eyes at least) was the upping of the ante by the injection of your profession as a Cop, furthered with additional commentary regarding LEO discounts. That statement had absolutely no bearing on the conversation as it pertained to A.) the desire to take an unused BH access code, B.) the acquisition of the BK10 through other means. That was a completely extraneous statement and displayed an entitled attitude and/or total lack of a modicum of respect.

I personally do not have an issue with him pursuing the BK10. After all, if you really want something - why pay full price when you can hunt for lower prices? I would have approached it differently however, maybe more polite and friendly...

UCPOPO, I understand if you believe that the responses directed to you were curt and insulting, however it was your tact or lackthereof that initiated the later more hostile responses. You don't just demand respect, you need to earn it. I'm not saying anyone who responded earlier had earned your respect either, but the sheer act of asking a Beckerhead (who took time out of their lives to earn the credentials) for their forum knife is degrading.

Sorry all for the lengthy dissertation.

Ok, this has gone on long enough. I appreciate everyone voicing their opinions, but this thread is heading in a direction we don't want to go.
