I was the happy winner of a KA-BAR BK-11, to augment the beloved beat-up old Camillus BK-11 I already had. Took it fishing today, hoping to let it taste some blood and trout guts, but unfortunately I didn't catch a dang thing. But at least it got some fresh air on a nice day :)

There's something wrong inside my brain that simply won't allow me to not modify a perfectly good knife... But all this beauty "needed" was a little cleanup on the edge, the spine sanded bare and polished for scraping sparks, and a firesteel wrapped onto the sheath.

I know folks love to say "You can't not have a 9" and I get that... but you really, seriously cannot not have a Becker Necker. I honestly feel every human should own one. It's the gateway drug of Beckers :D

In other news, those dang Beckerhead stickers seem to turning up all over the place...

Oh the food.

We ate well, and I only managed to get pictures of a small fraction of the deliciousness that we feasted upon.

Beef roasted over the fire

And the following night, pork loin, wrapped in bacon (yes, wrapped in bacon), and slowly roasted over the fire, served with cheese grits and a boudin appetizer.

At this point, I had wisely positioned myself next to Ethan to "hold the flashlight for him" while he carved and served the pork loin. He began passing me the strings as he cut them off so I could chew the crispy bits of bacon directly off the string. I never knew cordage could taste so good.

Your positioning is impeccable when it comes to food prep SS. You were also about a foot away from the pie cooking. :D

Still waiting on that pineapple.

I think you've already had one. When Kay asked me what kind of pie I got I told her apple. She said "I didn't make any apple pies, that was pineapple". I wrote it off as beer-buds.

It could be worse, at least they both have "apple" in them... I got the straight pine-cone pie. :( Crunchy.

One of the highlights of the gathering was the new Reinhardt Kukri prototype.

Lots of chopping power in this blade.

I had brought along my Blackjack era Reinhardt kukri so I could compare the two.

The older version had a 1/8 inch spine, while the new version is thicker, the same thickness as the BK-9. Ethan also explained that the grind matches that of the BK-9.

And it sure can chop.

Guyon sent me home with a Yazoo 10-year IPA, which I miraculously managed to not drink for an entire week. Obviously, the only proper and civilized way to enjoy a nice beer from a Beckerhead is to open it with a Becker Necker and pour it into a KA-BAR pint glass.

Delightfully crisp and refreshing... thank you, sir! :)

I'll send some nuts your way soon.

YAY, Guyon's Nuts! Angie will be very glad to hear that.

Wait... what?

no, you said that right

Now I'm even more confuseder than I were before.

Lamont, is that you??

That reminds me of my dear departed Dad. He always spoke to me with tender words that conveyed his heartfelt affection and support

I have been following this thread with great interest and envy. Looks like a great time for all. One question, though, where's Moose?
