I've been thinking about making a "Knife in the Box" kit, and thought who better to ask then the BeckerHeads.. Since there are many here that like doing mods I wanted your opinion... Would you be interested in a "KIB" it would consist of a profiled blade, kydex or leather, with all the thread or eyelets, and scale blanks in your choice of woods, or composites.. This will allow you to create a knife of your very own, either pick one of my designs or send me one of your own... I can heat treat it and predrill it for ya, all you have to do is put your desired bevel and edge on it, make the sheath and you're done.. Everything would be included to complete a knife..

some examples of my latest grinds..

any interests in something like this??

Secondly, I wanted to see if you guys would be interested in some gear I bought some time ago, its all from the swedish army, I'll have to take pics later but I have 4 small sized waterproof back packs (great day pack) medical bag with everything and other various items, I would charge next to nothing to cover my shipping... just a thought before I trade it in at army surplus :D if not, that's cool I'll bring a bunch of stuff to the campout..

Pricing would be extremely affordable and if I could find something to package in I'd even include the glue !!!

the pic above are rough profiles, the blanks would be like the one at the very top, or the chopaholic to the right, I would rough in the choil area better as this is the most time consuming chore for a DIY knife..

I would offer discounts to all who carry a BH#, if this generates enough interest I will throw together a kit tomorrow and post in the exchange...

I'd be interested both the knife in box kit and some of the gear, but I don't think I'd need the sheath stuff with it ;) Let us know what you decide. Thanks!!

Seems like a cool idea, and I think its cool you're asking us about this, and that you're offering a discount. That being said, I have no equipment to finish a knife right now :(. So I'd likely have to sit this one out. That... and I'm poor :(.

The blanks look nice though :).

def a cool idea...I've been mulling the idea over of trying to grind out one of my own, this will take me a step closer

peruse through your local pawn shops and pic up a nice double cut bastid:D file, nicholson makes a good one... will set you back maybe $2, or brand new at your local big box for around $8... grab some sand paper in the 80,120,150,220, plus range depending on desired finish..

presto, you have a knife.... well its not that easy but you get the idea...

Deadeye:: you don't need a BH# I'm just testing the waters for responses, but if you have one I'll knock like $5 off...

Haha... the only part you forgot was like 15hrs of labor, since I don't know what I'm doing :P. Still though, good idea, I hadn't thought about doing it by hand. Are these blanks already HT'd?

Any idea on the price on these?

I don't think we can discuss price as its frowned on, but I will offer a HT for $8-$10 more when I come up with a price... will be insanely reasonable though

im digging that chopper.....i want that kit....

that my friend is the 'chopaholic'.. 1/4" 16"oal with an 11" blade:eek: and is 2" wide.....................!!!!!

of course its not ground yet so I may only put a 10" edge on it..

of course I can size and fit anything you want..

I really like the idea, and would be interested in pricing and what kind of options you would offer.

I could sure put two of the waterproof packs to work, and would be glad to take them off your hands.

I think the kit knives is an excellent idea. The user can save a few bucks and have a custom knife.

Like the others have said, If the price was right and the steel was decent I would jump on this.

I think it's a great idea. I really like that blade up in the top right corner of your picture.
