BeckerHead's, I have a couple questions for ya..

I'd be in for a couple. I've always wanted to build at least one and my son wants to build one also. To get a kit from someone here would be great, at least I know it is quality. I'd also be interested in a daypack or two.

I'm not a Beckerhead, but I might be interested in one or two. I think a lot of folks on BF would like to assemble their own knife, but a lack of quality unfinished blades is a big factor to keeping people out.

I think these would do especially well if the purchaser could get with you to "design" a blade and handle shape.

I'd go for this. Shipping to Canada?
will ship to Canada but you'll have to pick up extra fees.. Kits in the U.S. will have shipping included in price..

Like the others have said, If the price was right and the steel was decent I would jump on this.
the price will be spot on.. the only spike in price could be if someone wanted some exotic woods I have.
All steels I use are 1084, 1095, 5160, 01... sometimes 1075 but its more expensive... so I'd say no go on that one for the kit..

I think it's a great idea. I really like that blade up in the top right corner of your picture.
iirc, that has a blade a little over 3" with a larger handle maybe 4 1/2" ?? its a big hander ... :)

Guys I think I'll go ahead and do this, I've been working like mad at my paying job :) but when I get home late tomorrow evening I will throw a couple kits together and post back here with a link..

I think you guys will likey..

Baby steps for me..... I like the 4th one down in left column, what steel is that?

the wharncliffe appears darker as it had been HT and tempered, it has been designated to bench duty here..

great little blade at around 6" oal 1/8" O1, 1" height and just under 3" blade, I think this baby will be a hot seller...

did I mention I LOVE wharncliffe's as you see there are 3 there... :D

Count me in as an interested person. Although, I am not paying any darn shipping. I will just drive up and pick up. Plus we can start all the Bromantic rumors going again. :)

I'm grooving on the chopaholic - esp in 5160, I think that would be the bomb.
bring samples and gear to the BH campout next week?

Dude seriously a chopaholic is in my future. Whether it be a build my own kit or buying it from you, tis my destiny to wield......

I may put a bevel on it tomorrow if I have time, tell you what though 1/4" 5160 is an ANIMAL, I think I'd prefer that over any steel in that size.. and I speak of experience, you can chop trees in sections and still shave hair.. I kid not.. I've had several over the years and they've all performed pretty equal and were all 5160..

Why must you tease me so.....

This is one of the best ideas I've ever seen! You're the man!

Thanks but I must admit its not entirely an original idea, I'm just trying trying to spice it up a little and offer it to forumites... :)

I thought instead of selling completed blades why not do the easy profiling and leave the rest up to you, and you save a fortune and have fun!!

I really like this idea be sure to let us know what you decide on doing the chopoholic and the one on the top right i would be down for.

I have many more designs, the pic I posted was just a small example of what I have ground out just for fun, by no mean are we limited to this.. I think this winter I may be doing a few khukuris :D these will be forged from 5160, kinda a wannabe knock off of Himalayan Imports made in the USA :)

Since the post office is closed and I can't send off my necker challenge knife :( I decided to play around with the Chopaholic a little today, first day I've actually had to myself for a couple weeks... :) sure is nice..

here's a couple pics of initial grinds/ Specs... 16"oal, 10.5" edge, 2" wide, 1/4" thick, full flat grind..

sorry for the shoddy photos, I've been having camera issues as of late..

BCK,

Have you seen the Khukri House Bahadur, or Mastercraft ?
I would love to see what you would charge to grind something like these out of good steel.
Shoot me an email or we can chat.
as far as small knives for now I am waiting for a few tweeners, then I might start looking for some others.
