Beckerheads, Post Up Those New Year's Resolutions

Get out with friends more.

I know that guy. He used to live in Tennessee.

Well, it's been a little over two weeks since the new year rolled out. How're we holding up with our promises to ourselves? Me, horribly on getting time outside. I have had a few shop days though. I've recently started weight training again. I quit about a year and a half ago. I went all last week, so far so good.

Aside from the typical weight loss goal, which is coming along just fine, I also decided I needed a new hobby. I settled on modifying Becker knives for this year's hobby. So far I'm doing pretty well with that goal.

I'm doing awful with my writing. I was supposed to have 25,000 words written on my new novel by now, but I'm around 10,000 behind. I wanted to have most of a book written by the time the Life, the Universe, and Everything writer's conference comes around next month, but it looks as though I'm going to be missing that deadline. I've been lazy this month. Time is flying by.

I also wanted to get in more training time with my martial skills. A few guys at work wanted to get together and form a training group to meet twice a month and train in shooting, force-on-force training, knifework, and hand-to-hand skills. My boss is setting up a 360 degree shooting range in a ravine on his property for the group to use. Saturday was our first meet. It went well and a good time was had by all. I realized how woefully out of shape I am, though, and this training group is a good motivator to start taking care of myself and build my strength and stamina back up to what it was before I hit 35 and got really lazy.

Baby steps only, but at least they're going in the right direction.

I've lost 7lbs. Not real good about working out yet though, just eating tons of veggies and all that good for you stuff. This new years resolution stuff is hard work.

Been working on my gear for camping and backpacking. Designing a super machax when free time allows. Waiting on warmer weather to start having fun and let go of one job. So, slow and steady I guess.

i decided to quit drinking (last time i drank was with friends at an after thanksgiving party). somehow maker's mark knew and they sent me a bottle sweater for christmas, haha. then last week another member gave me another sweater as a surprise gift.

Instead of whining I don`t see my old man enough. I hopped in the truck and we went for a ski last Sunday
Instead of complaining I don`t have money I started saving, putting extra away cash for some BK2 leather.
And other such things.

Mine is going great. I have other things coming in place but I can`t talk about it. But it involves Beckers so I`ll post it up.

Seems to be going well so far. Have gotten out to the woods a couple times, even though it wasn't for long. The BK7 was here almost a week ago. Been working in the shop a bunch, making 2 knives for a friend. Whew! Glad that 's over with. Now I can be as lazy as always. Doh! Wife wants me to redo our bathroom. That is her resolution for me.
