Beckers and Hawks

I just got my Trail Hawk today.. Already started working on it. Darkened up the handle some, and stripped the paint off. The handle needs one more coat of stain and the hawk head will be cold blued, after which it just needs to be sharpened (came pretty dull out of the box).

Can't wait to play with it in the woods though...

Have fun with the TH, I had alot of fun with my PH. I'm letting the elements take care of the patina for me. I don't oil it or, hell, even clean it, LOL.

I always wear my BK5 and Victorinox with me in the woods. If I am cutting back a lot of brush or doing heavier work, I'll bring my Pipe Hawk and sometimes a bow saw. Everything but the saw gets sharpened every night if it was used frequently that day.

I been shopping for a new hawk, myself. I got a few Trailhawks, and a Rifleman's Tomahawk that I'm gonna mod here soon, prolly at work.

I hate to say it, but RMJ, Winkler, and a few other $300+ modern hawks...........

Ewwww........tactical.....

Just bought an Estwing Black Eagle.

Should be here in a few days.

Thanks to Murph for the heads up.

Those are pretty cool looking.

Lagana design, slightly modified. Vietnam era style with a different spike. I'm gonna fix that spike so its more in line with the "style", grind that BIG ASS ESTWING off the handle, and probably send it off to K9 for some dark earth cerakote.

Gonna grab an RMJ Talon, Shrike or Kestel at Blade Show this year.

Taking my CS Rifleman into the metal shop tonight at work.......making some.......changes.

I was thinking about selling my Trail Hawk. Have never used it, might as well.

Good utility, but small.

They need a back up BK9 to be effective. Don't get me wrong, they are awesome tools, and very well thought out, but a 2" cutting area is tiny, and they can't split wood worth a damn. I'm on my 5th Trailhawk now, and have sent back 3 broken ones.

I keep tearing the cutting edge off of them, whilst in the midst of some good throwing.

CS has replaced everyone of them though.

Tactical, you say?

If I could have a moment when the funds are available AND one of these is available coincide I'd have one immediately. I always stash the money away with good intentions, but then life steps in and I spend it on something I never keep, like gas or food, over time. I will have one eventually, or better yet the hammer polled version of the Combat Axe, as I like the handle better.

C'est la vie

I personally love the combination of the BK5 and a 24" custom Trail Hawk from Equinox Coronado. I tend to use wooden wedges to split anything I need to split. The 'hawk is my primary cutting tool, with a Vic. Farmer as a backup. The BK5 sets in a Skystorm sheath, and is used as a method to carry a decent survival kit. The '5 sees the least use, but I still love it dearly.

The 5 does make an excellent companion to the Trailhawk. I need to get busy making changes to my 5 to go with my "frontier" setup. Right now I just use a Blackjack 1-7 Hunter. It looks stylish when I go hang out and pretend I'm Conner Kenway. :D

Now, Winkler.........I want Edwood's Winkler........um.....that sounded dirty, lemme try again.

I want a Dan Winkler made tomahawk similar to the one that Edwood carries. There, that sounded better.

Oh, and my Rifleman's tomahawk after a night in the shop. Still rough cut, and I need to decorate the handle some, but its a lot lighter and better suited for playing in da woods now......
