Beckers line from ka-bar is starting?!

knifeworks has them for about $90. I am waiting for a plain (non-lam.) model at a better price later. At least they actually exist again in some capacity.

Looks good so far..I wouldnt mind a BK9 with that laminate stuff!

yeah, if they keep up the laminated line I would love it. But on their site they say "look for more of our made in U.S. becker line", and down the page it says made in japan.

The Black Coated Becker Necker will have a much nicer price point, and that comes from Paul at KA-BAR.

i think that the san mai necker is made in japan but all the 1095 carbon steel beckers will be made by kabar in the usa.

This is kind of a special novelty item intended to pump up excitement about the line.

They feel it's worth alot due to the San-mai steel.

The majority of the line will be at a similar pricepoint to the old Beckers and will be make in the US. IIRC.

woooooh, awesome. i haven't posted at all here for a while, i've just been waiting for these to come out. I can't wait to get a 1095 necker and never need another knife again.

ok, for you beckernuts out there, fill me in.

Was becker ever their own company? Or were they always with camillus till they went belly-up?

Why the partnership now with KABAR?, Why not just do like RAT and venture solo with someone like Rowen? Im guessing its to keep price point down?

Im not to into the san-mai ones, but I forsee alot of beckers in my future if the price is right, and workmenship is as good.

I think there are some advantages to teaming up with a company like Kabar. They have existing distribution lists, handle marketing and production aspects. Ethan gets his designs out there, collects royalties and can focus his efforts on developing new things. Plus he has his fingers full of other activities like Joy of Cooking.

Ratcutlery is a big success, but also look at all the effort going into it this year from Jeff and Mike. I bet they must have to change the sound of their cell phone ringtones every two days for getting sick of hearing it chime. They are doing well and I applaude their efforts but they are also hustiling 130% to keep a handle on everything that goes into running the full show.

I agree kgd, teamng up has its benifits, Justin Gingrich did it recently with his blades and ontario, and done the right way would be alot less headache.

I just always think of the struggle RAT had/has with ontario, and I wonder if it makes all the struggles worth it to have complete controll over your knives.

I love Beckers stuff, and Kabar is a great american company that has been around for ages, and I cant wait to get my hands on a few!

Ethan Becker has teamed up with several companies. Blackjack and then Camillus which had a good run. Now with Ka-Bar hopefully there won't be any more switches. Ethan Becker owns all the rights to his designs. I don't think he has ever had his own company.

Thanks Bruce, I was curious bout how this came to be. Im happy to hear he owns his designs.

I forsee huge success with the 1095 line, if its made in the USA.
