Just out of curiosity, what did you guys and gals carry before you carried an ESEE knife?

I personally carried an old Kabar Short with the leather sheath. I carried that knife from the time my dad got it for me when i was just 12 until mid 2009. Thats when i got my 6, and ive been an ESEE guy ever since.

SRK carbon V, Fallkniven F1, and folded... Douk Douk, opinels, Spyderco Military, Delica, Endura, Native, some SAK's like the soldier and the trekker/fieldmaster, benchmade 710, buck 110...
now i carry mostly the Izula, sometimes the Native, and whenever i can, the HEST, and almost always, the SAK alox soldier

I carried various cheap folders mostly. S@W type junk. Had a kershaw assisted something or other that was really decent. Last folder type I carried was a Gerber eab(exchange-a-blade)... I liked everything about the eab except the tip up carry because I was working as an oilfield roustabout and all the running up and down cat walks or jumping off 50 barrel tanks or crawling on top of the water trucks, well that little S.O.B bit me more than once. Right now its laying somewhere down over a hillside near Stillwell Ohio(I guess I have an oilfield temper).

After those I bought an RC-4 and carried it(sheath only) in my pants pocket. I just got an izula 2 and have been carrying it with belt clip at about 4 o'clock. I like it alot.

Leatherman PST - still carry it.
I never really had a sheath knife before.

I don't consider my Mora a sheath knife, but it is a very capable fixed blade - that hangs out in my 72 hour pack now.

A Cold Steel SRK got used for most of the tasks I now use my ESEE's for. I had (and still do have) plenty of other fixed blades though. The ESEE's are just among the most used next to my Condors and Mora. :)

I would like very much to see pics of a well used old SRK :D possible ?
sorry for the off topic

Gerber BMF, Kershaw Survival Model 1005, Gossman PSK, Gossman Mini Tucker, Gossman Kepthart (sold it.. :( ), HEST (Gave to a knife impaired friend) Ontario TAK-1 (Which I still carry), RAT-3 (still carry), RC-3 (Still carry), Izula (carry everywhere in my EDC bag). Tons of others fixed blades I liked and tried, most just sit in the draw at this point. Too many folders to list, but my SAKs and Leatherman tools are still all carried and used.

The TAK-1 is what brought me to ESEE (Rat cutlery at the time) and the RAT pack. Most of the time I am perfectly happy using just the Izula as a fixed blade, but those times I want a bigger knife, it is the TAK or the RC-3. Very rarely I will carry something bigger then that.

To be honest, I don't really care what blade I have, as long as it keeps a decent edge, and does what I need it too.

I'll try to get some pics in the next few days if I can remember it. I have mine set up in a MercHarness and most of the coating is worn off from batoning. :)

buck110 for a few years, than nothing for a 1.5-2 years orso. Than the OD Izula, now a large sebenza(sometimes combo with izzy).

Folder, benchmade 523, still carry it, love that knife.
Fixed, SOG seal pup, snapped at worked (the 5 was my first esee)

At work I carried a Gerber Paraframe II, Leatherman Wave, and a Gerber E.A.B. Light. The reason I carried the exchange a blade was I'm a Field Manager for a large flooring/design company in the homebuilding industry. I always have to cut through carpet and other flooring materials.

Now I carry my Izula, HEST or my ZT 0350, Leatherman Wave, and still carry the Gerber E.A.B. Light daily at work. On the weekends usually I'll carry my HEST and my Wave.

for hunting and backpacking i carried a beker bk7, before that carried various gerbers, bucks, russells, and a stek damascus skinner.

take it easy

.... Spyderco Manix 2 and a Strider and a bunch of Case folders and a Fallkniven F1 custom and a few Buck 110s.....and I still do.....
