Before carrying a ESEE knife i carried a....

I don't EDC an ESEE (yet) so I still carry a Spyderco Endura with foliage green g10 scales, and a Vic Farmer. I have carried a few different SAKs and other pocket knives like my Case med stockman that still gets carried sometimes.

Woods knives: I've carried a Buck vanguard, couple different Mora's, and a Kellam wolverine (puukko). Still have a USMC Ka-bar I need to try out but apart from that I pretty much just use ESEE's now, mainly the 4 but I have an Izula as well, and I have an ESEE-3MIL on the way.

Lets see I'll try and chronologically organize previous blades

1) Kershaw Scallion (I think) It was an AA by Kershaw/Ken Onion made for Snap-On
2) Ka-Bar-Mule
3) Kershaw Blackout
4) Spyderco Delica 4

Now I carry
Izula II (Neck)
ESEE-4 (Belt)
Spyderco Delica 4 (Pocket)

Cold Steel SRK, Murray Carter Neck Knife, various cheapo folders before I knew any better...

As far as a "large" sheath knife goes that I might slip on, I carried a short Ka-Bar with the kraton handle for a long time. Still have it. It was a pretty dependable knife.

But as I began learning more and more about knives I decided I wanted something with a true full tang and not the rat tail style the Ka-Bar's use. Also wanted something close in size to the short Ka-Bar.

Bought an ESEE-4, then the addiction began.

In terms of folders, I've had lots, some cheapos, some a little higher end. Don't carry a folder anymore either. My Izula-II got the EDC job.

Usually I am carrying a SAK, sometimes the F1 goes with me. In earlier times, when I was in the military, an old "Matrosenmesser" was always in my trousers or in the boot, additionally to the SAK. Now I am an owner of an ESEE-6, but for EDC I think it's a little bit to big.

Greetings Wolfgang

The sheath knife I carried before my ESEE 3-MIL was a Benchmade Rant. I've always carried folders, a Victorinox Climber and a Benchmade Griptillian of some sort, which I still do.

wow the srk seems really popular, i might have to get one of those on my hands. before i got esee, i mainly carried sog seal pup elite for light backpacking, and a kabar marine combat for anything that i might have to do more woods work with. edc was a benchmade 551 griptilian. now light backpacking is esee-4, woods work is esee-5( may get a 6 or a junglas), and edc is a spyderco endura with a izzy

Various Gerbers (some of which I was happy with, many not).

Today I have switched over to ESEE and Mora and some other brands but not Gerber.

Mostly a Benchmade 930. I carry it in addition to my Izula now, but if it's one or the other I go with the Izula.

gerber, buck 500, benchmade 555, bulldog brand trapper.....I still have the benchmade and bulldog....

Most recently before my ESEE-4 took over EDC duties I carried a Buck 102, and before that, a CRKT Denali (the last folder I bought), and before that random cheapo folders.

Most of the time a Seal Pup. Then switched to HEST and ESEE 4. And shortly after the Seal Pup made a come back.

Fixed blades: USMC KA-BAR or KA-BAR Camp Knife (still have em both by the way)

Folders: Kershaw, Benchmade, Spyderco. (Since using ESEEs though, I've sold off my kershaws and BMs because I like my spydercos a lot more)

The 4, 5, 6, and Junglas have replaced knives like the Cold Steel SRK, Trailmaster, and the Becker BK2, 7, and 9. I can't stand the factory sheaths that come with Becker knives. I realize that there is an aftermarket that supplies some great sheaths, and I have dipped into this multiple times, but purchasing a $50 BK2 and then having to buy $40 Micarta handles and a $50 Kydex sheath means that I might've spent my money on another 5, which is more ergonomically and functionally pleasing to me anyways. I like getting what I need all in one package, warrantied, from the factory.

The Izula, Izula-II, 3, and HEST have replaced primarily folding knives in my EDC setup, including the Spyderco Military, Lil' Temperance, and Benchmade Ritter Grip. The folders are still some great knives, and I still carry them, but usually in conjunction with a fixed ESEE and a multitool or Victorinox. None of these folders has ever given me any reason to question their reliability, but the solidity of a fixed knife can hardly be matched.

I'm in the RAT Pack for a reason....ESEE kicks ass. :D

At work I carry a Sog folder w/tanto blade (can't remember what model), neck knife an Ontario Little Bird (which will be replaced with an Izula thats on order), Truck knife an Ontario Ranger RD6 which will be replaced with an Esee RC-5. Also have a couple Swiss Army knives and a Spyderco Native.

BM Rant (for hard use and some abuse); Bark River Mini-NorthStar for backpacking and light duty.

I plan on keeping the Rant, but I may sell a few of the BRKT's in favor of getting multiple ESEE's (I especially dig my Izulas and H.E.S.T.)!
