Modded the sheath to make it appear more in size with the knife...

OK...Thoughts....

Obviously, I like it! Feels great in the hand. The sheath is nice...way better than the old stock sheaths. However it looks/feels like the sheath is too big for the knife. I think I might go kydex for this. Next to the MKI, the MKI is bigger in terms of blade and the BK16 has the longer handle. The MKI feels more substantial in the hand. I like the FFG, and the coating is much better. However, looking at it, I think I AM going to go ahead and strip and polish. I just don't like the look of black blades. I hope there isn't any metal flaws underneath, like my BK14 had.

Want to try a wrap on it, but I don't think the sheath straps will fit if I do. Will wait till I re-sheath it. Have to decide for sure if I want to go leather or kydex. Which ever I do, it needs to be low profile to compliment the knife.

It was slightly smaller in feel than I expected. Probably from handling the MKI, which has a much hand-filling, grippier handle. But I still like it.

It IS definately an "in-between" knife. I think it needs an in-between sheath. Right now it feels like a medium knife in a large knife sheath. Tried the MKI sheath, but the Becker is wider Spine to Edge.

I'd recommend this to anyone. I don't think I'll get the other two though. Two mediums is enough. I do think however, with the right sheath this could EDC nicely.

Nice, I wanna see how that one looks in a nice piece of kydex, or a really nice piece of leather with some wood scales. If you want I can do all the modding for you, no guarantee you will ever see it again though :p But seriously, that right there is purdy!

ur right about the sheaths, I agree a knife this size begs to be as ''low-drag'' as possible. I tried a pancake for mine and I prefer the minimalist taco style sheath for it. makes a great pocket carry.

One reason why I like Sky's Scout for this blade...it's just as big as it needs to be and no bigger although by it's nature leather is a lil bulkier. I bet Sky's pocket sheath would also be great on the 16

The scout sheath is a little big for this blade I think, but the pocket sheath or a neck sheath would be perfect!

Answer the man's question C! we want to know!! ;)

The laser etching with the new coating looks so much better than the FPR etching did! Granted that's through pictures.

It looks very well done. Very much like what an ESEE looks like. I'm still stripping it though. I'll be the test subject for this new coating vs Jasco.

Hey man, got mine today too. Our opinions on it are simular. The finish is much like rowen does for esee. The sheath is really nice but I get what you are saying. Its just too much sheath. If it were more compact like the Benchmade Nimravus sheath it would be much more fitting for the knife. Something like this:

Congrats, looks awesome.

Congrats! Nice very nice, I want one and a Machax too!

Jealous! I am bound by verbal contract to buy the production model from my local knife store. I told them that if I could convince them to pick up the new line of tweeners to carry in their store I would purchase the first BK16 they get. Better go check if they're in yet...

That's a badass blade there man. Begs to be used, add a nice piece of leather to it and call it done.

Is their any hint of the saber grind? I saw a BK17 in a store on Sunday. I think it was the only on they had. I could see it had a faint line of a saber grind. You could feel it and see it when you turned the knife and the light caught it. It didn't have any of the FPR marking or Ethan's sig. I an pretty sure it had the new coating and laser marks. I was so stunned I was holding a BK17 I didn't look at the coating much. I have a 16 inbound and they wanted $80 + tax for this one.

yeah man. that blade looks friggin awesome! can't wait to receive mine...it will take some time till it happens but i am looking!!!!
the only thing: i don't like the brown scales. but hey since you get the black ones as well i don't care too much about that.
congrats on the bk16!!!

still waiting on my 17,store i ordered it from(ad directly above this) says they havent even been released yet!? wtf?

lg&m,
the 16 is the one that went FFG and is different than the FPR version. the production 17 is the same as the fpr, but laser logo and new coating, not roll stamped and ethan's sig/FPR etching added.
