Behold...The Framelock Commander Conversion...

Bob (and Reese)

I gotta say, that is one (or actually two) of the nicest things I have seen. I managed to hold off ordering one the first time around, but after seeing these, I'm looking awful hard at a 98 Satin. :D

Dogman, that is one sweet looking customization, tell Reese he rocks.

John,
Maybe I missed something, but wouldn't it be better to save the '98s as they are and get a brand new one with the skinny liners for this job? You're right though, its sweet looking with satin.

It would, but I'm thinking how nice the framelock would be with a real satin blade. I'm wondering if I can take my diskless and have it fitted the the extra '98 body. Hmmmmmmmm

I hate it....

This just means there's another knife I really really want....too many!

I decided to get a mini commander, put off buying a Terzuola (lack of cash)...then decided that maybe I could get a mini commander AND a P-Sark...egads...too many knives! Now this?!?!

I think I need to stay away from the computer for a couple of days....

I've never been a fan of customizing...felt it was like drawing a mustache on the Mona Lisa. That has changed my mind. Wow and a half!! Brilliant work. My respect. I need one of those desperately.

...and it is awesome!!! I have one of the first Commander framelocks from Reese since he took over the project from Neil Blackwood.

Neil, you'll be happy to know you handed this project over to the right person!!!

Fit and finish are superb. Feels nice and heavy in the hand. And lockup is...well...how can I best describe it...like a friggin' bank vault!!!

I'm sure you hear the term "folding fixed blade" floating around the forums every now and then. Well, needless to say, this knife qualifies as one!!!

I'm so impressed with this one that I may just forego the Super-sized Commander I have on order at TAD and send Reese another Commander for a framelock conversion. This one, however, will be a lefty... then I'll have one for each pocket! :D

Little late seeing this, but I saw people asking about the price.
You're looking at ~$300 for the conversion, you supply the blade.
Reese told me it would be at least 3 months wait, as he has to work it in with his custom work.
I had dropped the idea of getting it done, since I sold my Commander, but it's still been floating around in the back of my mind. I'm on strike right now, and will be lucky if I don't have to sell some more stuff, but later this year if finances allow.....:)
A Commander's blade and ergonomics with a Sebenza's construction is how I think of it...and that's hard to beat at any price, IMO.

The frame with the CF inlay is MINE. its gonna have a darkened TI handles and a black blade from a 99 commander with a plain edge.

Abandon all hope, all ye upon whom I draw...

Ok, ok, now I'm getting phyco.

Now I need a second one for left hand carry.

I'll try to have picts of the whole thing posted once I get my knife.

Memnoch:

Good for you! I tried to get in on one of the plain ones, but the one with the inlay was all that Reese had left. He offered it to me but I had my heart set on a plain one. I can see myself kicking my own A$$ later on.

Now I have to wait for Reeses next batch. I'm glad it went to someone deserving!

:)

Wait?!?!?!? The knife went to someone deserving??????

DAM IT ALL, that knife was supposed to be mine. !@#$%^&*()

Oh, wait, you were meaning me as someone deserving.

I'm used to being called many things, deserving is not one of them.

Demonic, despicable, dastardly, devious, deadly, deranged, dumb, dorkey, dopey, dimwit, dweeb, all of those, but deserving is a new one for me.

My title does not really matter as long as the knife is going to emd up in my pocket. :D

Memnoch:

Hey, don't get me wrong...I was trying to be nice! I was trying to

hide my utter jealousy and hatred knowing that "I" could've had that beautiful knife and let it go. Now I'm really wanting that plain model!

Good for you Buddy! ;)
