Belated 2K GAW before the year is over!

I'm in.
After thinking about what would actually be used, I think a paring knife or whittling knife in whatever steel is thinnest with wooden handles would see a ton of use. A stick tang with stacked birch or some burl handles.

Thank you zuluninja.

well...if you don't mind a 5/32" paring knife, ok then :D I did order AEB-L in thinner (.011") stock, tho.

Great idea for a GAW!
I'm pretty boring. I have wanted to pick up a kephart for a while now, so that would be my choice. However, I would want the tip slightly pointier like on a bark River aurora. Some of the kepharts I've seen can look a little to blunt.
Any of the carbon steel would work, but I would prefer something no thicker than 1/8". I would probably go with an 1 1/4" height. A 4 1/4" full flat grind blade and a 4 1/2" handle in some sort of darker wood with something like red liners and brass pins and slight contouring on the handle. A leather sheath with a dangler option would be great too.

This was fun!

Very awesome GAW.

Ever since I made the one any only knife I have made I have wanted a 1/8 necker sized version of my 3/6 10 inch version. When my life calms down I intend on making one myself but that could be years from now. In the winter I use neck knives more than I do when it is warm. I feel that it would be a constant companion in my woods walking gear selection.

Thanks for the chance!

Great giveaway. I'd probably choose a fancy hunter. Either g10 or wood for the handle ( depending on what you had available)

ok boys and girls, this will run until tomorrow 8 p.m. eastern standard time. Your post # is your entry and I will do the random selector thingy on Tuesday, 12/13/16. Good luck to you all, some interesting ideas tossed here.

some pretty cool ideas, guys, keep em coming. Mike, which blade of mine did you handle?

I'm not sure - it was at Ray's (raysettanta) place....probably a 5-ish inch blade, orange-ish handles, maybe? Man, my memory is shot. Plus, we were REALLY deep into handling all sorts of stuff - mine, his, daizee's.....very fun visit. Reminds me - I need to give him a call.
Edit: I emailed Ray; most precipitously he popped into the Snark thread right after this post. He was kind enough to look up the link and send it to me. Maybe my memory's not so gone:

One of your first - and still pretty awesome.

good to know you guys like it! I was tempted to keep that one :D

Zulu thanks for the shot at an unbelievable GAW. I'd like something with a blade length of 3-4.5", about the BK16 size or a little smaller. All I have is 1095, so anything different would be good. And I would love wood handles (curly always looks great, but I'm not picky). Something I can sit around camp with and carve or do other smaller tasks. Put it in a leather sheath and I would have a bunch of new "firsts".

Thanks again. I still can't believe this forum and how cool you guys are.....

All right then! One hour to go! I'm excited about this, really. Do all of you prefer the random pick to be done tonight or tomorrow morning? Thanks to all of you, I do like to be challenged skill-wise. For those of you who do not get selected, I just posted a bunch of blades at the exchange, deeply discounted and with an additional 10% off for Beckerheads and KaBar Krew members, just in case you were wondering how do my blades look like :p

aaaaand it's done. The official entry numbers to go into the electronic tumbler are: 2,3,4,5,6,7,9,10,11,13,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27 & 32. Feel free to double check, I eliminated my posts, as any other that had posted again or not a paid member. I will randomize this thing tomorrow maybe around 10 - 11 a.m. eastern time. Stay tuned, folks!

Tomorrow morning is fine, give us some time to sweat.

This time of the year (and GAWs categorically) are often viewed through the eyes of the applicants and those that seek to receive.
That being said, The Giver/Gifter is the one that truly receives the gift. The feeling of appreciation that is bestowed upon the giver is often one of the best gifts that can (and should) be reciprocated.

I'm still glowing from GSOM's comment on being "lucky" to have handled one of my knives :p

some nice looking blades in that sale thread -- best of luck to all who entered and congrats to whoever the lucky winner is!

Just went back and reread the OP. I must have been confused when I first read it. I guess I didn't understand that I was ineligible as a Beckerhead that is not a paying member.

Sorry 'bout that! I wasn't trying to cheat. :o

no problem 'breeze. I will double check tomorrow the right count.
