Just make sure you aren't pressing the lockbar towards the blade when using the thumbstuds. A lot of people do that and don't realize that the lockbar increases the detent when held incorrectly.
 
My 561 has finally broken in. When I first got it, the frame lock was so stiff at times I tore up my thumbs trying to close it. Finally after a few hundred flicks and closings, it is completely smoothed out. Glad I didn't bother contacting customer service. A few folks here said just use it, and they were right.

Great advice for others. I was aware and this was not my issue. Detent just needed to be broken in. The detent is solid and does the job well.
