Bench made 943

I much prefer the 943 over the 940.

Here's one of mine wearing ivory:

I've talked to the top dogs at BM the past couple of years at Blade about a new 943 variation. They've all said there are no plans for one in the near future, unfortunately. BM is typically pretty secretive about this sort of thing, but I tend to believe them on this one.

There are a few BM loyalists who keep pounding the idea of a new 943 on BenchmadeForums, so who knows. We'll keep at it, though - believe that!

That AFCK is maybe the most gorgeous knife I've ever seen, sre! I have a new to me 806 D2 black on black waiting for me when I get home which I thought might cure the itch for a while. Now I've got to find a round hole model with an uncoated blade to do something like that to it. New Grail!

It will never end will it Steve??? These things are worse than crack!!

sre1, wow! That is the most gorgeous 943 I have ever seen!
So BM's expressed no interest in 943 upgrades.
Leaving only blade swapping or the vague hope that a dealer will order an exclusive run of the 943.

So maybe that's who we need to be petitioning, rather than BM. If the dearth of 943 upgrades from BM is due to lower sales numbers for the model, then a dealer exclusive run of 600 or 800 or 1200 943's seems a better approach. Limited number, better steel, increased exclusivity, isn't that more viable business wise?

Polished the edge of my hybird CF 943 with my new toy and like the results!

The "Hole" in the blade is because the thumb stud was in the way so I took it off(in case you didn't already figure that out)

Wicked Edge, Edge Pro, or ???
Great mirror finish, JoeM!!!

Looks cool with the thumb studs out, like a miniature Spyder hole.

On the subject of 943 limited runs, where's Whitty when you need him. Sick that Sasquatch on BM for a USAMade Blade exclusive!

Just got a wicked edge. Have an edge pro that might go up for sale soon but it has its uses. Honestly, a mirror finish is easier on the EP with their new 2300 and 4K polishing stones but the WE "for me" is less messy, more precise and gets me a sharper "wicked" edge much faster. Getting the mirror finish takes longer and of course it's is much more expensive, especially with all the upgrades you need to polish an edge and the newer hardware that I feel should come with the kit for the price.

When I got a GREAT deal on my 943 from a member on CandlePowerForums, I was looking for a 940 instead. Turns out I dodged a bullet, as I like the 943 blade shape FAR better than the 940! :foot:

I would love to see a 943 in something like M390 or S110V!!! Mine is old enough to have the 154CM blade, and I LOVE it! Far preferred to the S30V "upgraded" steel. They should have just made the change to CPM154 instead.

I can't imagine a sprint 943 with a "super-steel" and something like CF or G10 scales wouldn't sell like hotcakes, so long as the price wasn't astronomical.

BTW, today is the last full day that my 943 will wear her factory black dress. Tomorrow, some fancy new blue twill scales will arrive from DOAT!!!

Here she is after somewhere between 11-12 years of dang near daily pocket-carry. Other than melting the tip off when cutting a Li-Ion battery out of a crashed R/C plane , she's not that much worse for wear (I fixed the tip). :D

Ryan, DOAT, does amazing work and you're going to love what he does for you brother!!!
Here are a couple he did for me!!

That blue twill...

Can't wait for mine to be sporting some those. Tomorrow!!! :D

I've always like the 943 blade shape better than the 940. Put G-10 or CF scales on, and it's a pocket rocket. For those that can't carry a 710 due to restrictions this is a great alternative.

Got my DOAT scales!!! :D   These pictures don't do them any justice, I will need to get some better ones in the natural light this weekend.

They turned out fantastic!!! I polished up the spool standoffs and then heated them to almost glowing with a torch to heat-color them to blue/purple to match the scales. I think it turned out pretty good!

Pretty good??? No......that looks fantastic!!!
I'll bet it feels great in hand also!!
Enjoy it!
Joe
