Benchmade 300sn "my ultimate edc"

Me thinx there is a groove made in the blade, the axis lockbar will probably fall into that....!?

I agree, that's about the easiest way to explain it. The scales probably cover that part of the blade tang.

edit- I found a photo on the net taken straight on, traced over it in autocad, rotated the blade part around to see how the internal shapes would relate to the axis lock bar. This should be reasonably close enough to illustrate how the flipper clears the lock.

I am happy to see both this and the spyderco flipper. Looks like they have seen that Kershaw/Zt have been killing the production end of flippers and they finally want a piece of the action! I wonder why though they both have dark brown scales, as this is the first time I have seen an actual picture of it. I would be willing to give this a try along with the spyderco, although the price does look alot better than the spydey's.

I now want to see a review of a zt, this, and the spydey!

I really want one as a secondary edc carry, but the only problem is it weight as much or if not more than my main large carries in the 3.5 to 4 inch range.

I have one on order and can't wait to get it. I had a Kershaw and ZT flipper or two over the years and was never very impressed. If BM is up to it's seemingly current QC standards, I'm hoping for good things.

I got mine last week and I love it. SUPER smooth and really nice fit and finish. I have smallish hands and it fits me very well, but I can imagine someone with larger hands might find it on the small side. Now that I have tried one out I am sure I would shell out the extra bucks for another if they make some runs in m390 or other comparable steels.

I preordered mine about a week ago. How long did it take you to get yours in after preordering it?

I have been looking at this knife in every angle and I can't find anything wrong with it. In fact, it looks damn near perfect. I like smooth solid knives. I have always wished my custom flippers had thumb studs. I even like the 154CM. I can sharpen BM 154CM to a amazing edge. Every one that has one seems very impressed and fit and finish on all the reviews are outstanding. I would feel like a idiot if i didnt order one so I did today. My SNG CC is my perfect size EDC and the 300SN looks very close in size. The 300SN really looks like its gonna be on its way to EDC stardom.

I wonder why though they both have dark brown scales,

Here's a quote from the designer Butch Ball from the comments on a YouTube video about the 300sn.

"Hello everyone, As the designer of this knife I will try to answer some of the questions here. There is a possibility of different color scales and a black blade version eventually. This knife is built almost identical to the proto I submitted but Benchmade use their axis lock vs liner lock.I chose this color g10 because at that time I was building knives headed to troops in Astan and that is what they wanted and I had plenty of it."

I'd definitely buy a 3.6-4" bladed one, I like just about everything else about it, wouldn't mind an upgraded steel though either.

I would buy one of those too. For the price, this could be a multi size collection of the same knife. Learn on one size and apply it to multiple sized knives. What amazes me with Benchmade knives like this is they are as smooth as my customs that cost 5 times the amount. In fact, my Rift is the standard on which I judge ALL my knives on smoothness of opening and closing.

I had mine for less than 24 hours. It's a well it together little knife, just a bit stubby for my taste.

Kinda weird Spyderco and Benchmade both decided to release a brown flipper around the same time lol.

For me the 300SN is too fat and heavy for its offered blade size - nearly 5 oz?!

I've also hated that flimsy pocket clip since they used it on the Rukus.

I just got mine in the mail. I totally dig it. The Chinese* part of me even got lucky Serial #808. Yeah, it's a little thicker than my Para2, but I'm ok with that. I like it to fill-the-fist real nice. And this lock... man... it's like butter. Small enough to be inconspicuous, stout enough to punch through whatever needs to be punched through. Flipper. AXIS. Tan scales. I dig!

Nice knife, fun flipper. But on my hand, the handle is a bit short. This may be a problem with the finger grooves - they are just a bit to small for my fingers. As a result, my pinkie gets shoved off the end of the handle - weird feeling for a four-finger handle to only fit three fingers!

That's my take as well. Mine is on the way. Small is very subjective but a Sebenza small or Strider PT is what I consider a small knife.
