Benchmade 737 Aileron

Ever since the weed went legal in Oregon benchmade has been acting funny....

I started a speculation thread a few weeks ago where I was wondering why benchmade wae making so many moves that it is.

All lines except Benchmade blue class and gold class canceled. (Ie: HK, Lonewolf, Bone Collector) standardizing on s30v when almost everyone else has moved to s35vn. Removing so many of their all time classic models (710). Then there is the price they charge for anything other than g10 steel liners and s30v. G10 is a friggin’ upgrade material! You get that rubber stuff on their lower end models now.

Now I love Benchmade. They have some excellent knives but 200$ for g10 steel liners and s30v!? There are other companies that make great knives in those materials for half the price. Never mind Chinese knives.

Spot on. Benchmade is resting on their laurels and I just don't know that they can.

1. It looks a lot like a Ka-Bar Gila. Nothing new here, same as 2 hands opening...
2. It should be sold with a combo steel pick/wire brush cleaning kit.
3. Overpriced. BM should take a harder look at what chinese companies are capable of doing.

Yep, pretty much the same as in 2017 when Spyderco was charging almost $200 for G10 or FRN and VG-10. That's a nope for me.

Question? has any of the naysayers in this thread actually handled this knife or is it all just conjecture? I stopped reading after 3 pages of nothing but shit talking about the knife. I have one and I love it not sure why all the hate. I am not mad by the way as this is the internet and everyone is free to have their opinion. I just think most of these responses are odd.
P.S. I am not sure the price point is a valid concern since 90% of benchmade products are overpriced as well.

Two handed opening? Like a SAK or traditional? Ok.

I too am not an edged weapons expert, though I do play one in my backyard. I'm a Grand Master Nerf swordsman.

That blade looks like it will accumulate more accumulate more debris than my lawn in mid November. And I'm on 2/3 of an acre.

We really don't need another tactical knife to choose from.

Another BM from BM.

I've taken Tarani's edged weapons class, I've read his book, and I've played with Aileron knife. Actually, a Benchmade rep was also was at the class and showed us a lot of Benchmade knives. Keep in mind that Tarani designed the Aileron based on attributes requested from pilots for their everyday use. So, the knife is a decent knife; it's not a piece of junk nor is it anything super special.

This response doesn't make any sense, and secondly, thanks for the thread necro. Plenty of people have already spoken on why they don't like it. Also, using phrasing like "I stopped reading after 3 pages of nothing but $&%^ talking" tells us that you are indeed mad, by the way. If we're free to have our opinion*, then why don't you let folks have their op...ohhhhh....right. You have this ridiculous knife, and wanted to tell folks they're wrong because they don't like it. It IS ridiculous, have you seen the video? I laughed entirely too much at that whole "Stand there static, take out this pocket knife, open it with your off-hand then point it at the bad guy with yer WAR FACE ON! WOOOOO!!!" It's ridiculous. If you like it, good for you.

But it's ridiculous. Also, I'm really not trying to get another argument going, but you kind of have to see how your tone is at odds with what you're saying.

*Thanks, much appreciated. I'm always glad when I'm given permission to have opinions.

Furthermore, this same knife could have been done by putting a small panel of skateboard tape on the sides of the blade of one of their thirty or forty other spearpoint bladed knives they've done. :D

The video is ridiculous, but you know, it's a marketing thing. I'm not sure why they key in on a two-handed opening, there is a thumb hole (along with the Axis).

So, as pilots, how is owning and using the knife?
