Benchmade 903. Awesome!

If I can find a place that will shave a little off the MAP, I will buy one right then and there.

What a cool little knife. Thanks for the pics..
I found one for sale on the exchange, I mulled it over for a few days then said what the heck. I wouldn't have bought it if it was not offered at the price it was.

I guess it wasn't that awesome after all?

I'm really digging the 904, it's a great little knife. I'm usually more fond of larger 3.75"+ blades. I've been carrying my 912 for the last week and I have to say I like the older Strykers a bit better.

I am speaking of my 903 not the 904. I love my 904 until the 903 came out. I am not a huge fan of the tanto blade.

If I ever stumble upon a deal here on the BST, I am going to snap it up.. ;)

Sweet knife and great pics, DL  Really looking forward to the larger one myself.

I tried to sell this knife twice. I just couldn't let it go. After having it for a few days my hands adjusted to the smaller handle and it's a great knife.

I mean seriously. When I started to think about it, I cannot find any other knife with a 3" blade, nice G10 handles, perfect fit and finish, great blade grinds, great steel (154cm), lowrider pocket clip, flow through design with standoffs, made in the USA, thick full stainless liners, with a strong lock (AXIS).

There are some knives out there that are kinda close, but they either have liner locks (which I hate) or they don't have G10 handles or they are not made in the USA. I don't always have to have "made in the USA" but I like to have it if I can. :) It's one of the few things these days that I can still choose to buy "made in the USA".

I know, I was referring to David, as he had or has his knife for sale right after this thread went up. I found it odd, seeing as how he had found the 903 to so ideal. My comment about the 904 holds true, I do love a tanto blade. I've have yet to find something I cannot do with it that I can do with a regular blade. I have a 912 user and a 913 NIB. They are some of my favorite designs.

Over the last few years, I have noticed that Benchmade seems to make some of the absolute best liner lock knives ever. The 912 I've used over the last 4+ years has zero blade play, no wiggle, and the lock does not stick. I cannot say the same thing about other companies liner locks. This is one reason why I was sad to see the conversion to Axis lock on this model and discontinuing of most liner & frame locks over all. Benchmade did it right.

Schuey, that is the best plan at this point. Save some cash and still try new stuff.

I was surprised to see it on the ex.

Glad you decided to keep it.

I'm going to buy one of these. Do all of them have writing on them right now? Will the writing come off easily?

Just email or call the place you are buying and see if they have any that are not "First production runs". I've done this with Knifeworks before and they have had both in stock at the same time because. If places only have the First Production Run models just wait a few weeks and they should have the regulars.

And NO, it's a bitch to get the laser etch completely off. I wouldn't even try to do it. Unless you have the blade bead blasted you will regret trying to get it off. It goes deep enough that it will make you mad trying to remove it. ;) I tried once and ended up getting the blade reground because it looked like such crap.

I usually go with kniveshipfree or knifeworks. I will give them a call.

I`ve had a 903 for 2 months now and it is always in my front pocket except to take it out and flip it and admire, nothing else compares to it and the G10 scales have become less grippy by themselves. It is my EDC so much so that i`m thinking of selling off the rest of my knives .

Yeppers, I really like my 903 too (#13 of 750). I took my pocket clip off and found I really like the way this one carries at the bottom of the pocket - the grippy G10 prevents it from moving around a lot.

It's the same length handle as a mini-griptilian. I can get all four fingers wrapped around (medium sized hands) and a thumb on the spine
