Hey guys! New to the forum😁. I recently got a benchmade 940 and have a question about the grind. It looks at the spine as if we're the tanto starts its not straight. I would post a pic but it says at the button of the screen that I'm not allowed to post pictures :( so I guess this is a 2 question thread.

Antonio.

I don't have a 940 but have been looking hard at photos and dreaming of one.
as far as photos put your photos on a separate site like PhotoBucket or Amazon Prime then just paste the "image" code copied from one of those here into your text.

PS: grind and crooked and what to do about it. I am a thin blade connoisseur so about any blade outside of a Japanese kitchen knife or a paring knife is JUST TOO DARNED THICK in my way of looking at it so if I get one I am already planning on grinding it thinner especially near the tip. I say get a cool running grinding wheel in a very aggressive grit and make that sucker into a REAL cutter.

PPS: the cool running grinding wheels are white or red or blue in that order of preference from good to best.

A couple of cases in point.
I ground this one thinner; I took off a millimeter of thickness at the spine.

That photo pasted here in the text looks like this :

To get all that code all I have to do is select a photo in my photo bucket account then click on the "IMG" button then click on "paste" here.

PPPPS: Yes I polished the blade after grinding.

Not sure if I understand the question?

Are you asking about the grind?
Or
Do you think there is something strange with the grind on a 940 you have?

You can post a pic...

Cut and paste the link from a hosting site, and at the beginning put

Also my benchmade logo looks different than the ones online? Am I being paranoid?

Send it back if you can.. every now and then a bad grind makes it thru qc..i got a bushcrafter a few months ago that had a wonky grind..one side the bevel was groundconsiderably higher than the other.

I have had a coule of 940 the grind where the tanto starts have been uneven . Very common on the 940 . The two that I have kept are even .

That looks like one of there first ones . What's the steel ?

On the older logo the butterfly has antennas.

So it's not a fake knife?

I've never seen a 940 fake, I don't think you need to be too concerned about that.

I've noticed on some of my 940s the "grain" pattern on the spine makes the grind look funky, but I've always assumed it was just an optical illusion.

Yep, just take em off. That may require 2 torx bits if you can't keep the opposite from spinning.
