Benchmade Adamas 275 vs. Paramilitary 2???

Thats what happened to me. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1143331-Tip-Up-Disaster-(graphic-content)
Only once though. I'm a quick learner ;-)

Dang, that could have been ugly! Haha I hope I don't have that problem as I usually carry my folder in the right-hand corner of my front, right pocket so hopefully that should keep the blade tucked in nicely. I haven't had any problems with any of my others there, and I've done some pretty crazy shit while they were in my pocket. Haha

If you wanted a stout, robust, reliable blade you made a great choice! Good job!

The full sized Military is a slicing machine. It has a very thin tip that didn't inspire confidence to me, but it was still very tough, and very light.

The Adamas is the most durable by a long shot. Enjoy! And definitely post pics when you get it.

Hopefully that pic worked. That's a quick little shot of my current EDC's wear and tear. Haha

I know you made your choice, but if you ever get to thinking your 275 is a too heavy EDC, which is why I didn't replace my 610 rukus with one, reconsider the Spyderco Military.

When I bought a Millie, I was initially delighted by how comparatively light it was, but put off by its aluminum back spacer. Steel screws into aluminum threads is not very tough construction in my book.

Two stainless steel stand offs installed and aluminum thrown out, the Millie is now as solid feeling as any Benchmade I ever owned, but at about two-thirds the weight.

I had a mini-rukus, always wanted the full size but by the time I wanted one they were too rare. It isn't really a grail knife, but it would be cool to find one.

Just curious is it really so easy to shake loose? I'd hate to worry such a tank might fall partially open in pocket. I'll probably carry in sheath or against pocket seam but, still.
All you have to do is tighten the pivot screw a little more. Problem solved. I still need to grab one. My wife won't let me borrow her Adamas, since I have the M390 version of the Contego.

Yes, I was planning to check the pivot (I tighten a lot of them, I prefer slightly tighter pivots anyway) but I just wanted to make sure it wasn't some weirdly inherent problem. I got one from a forumite here and should be getting it later this week. It's the first moderately expensive knife I've gotten in many years, and my first ever with D2. I'm kind of ridiculously excited. Hope it lives up to that.

Your wife sounds awesome even from this small description.

Honestly I'd love a Contego but it'll be awhile before I can get an expensive knife again. Expensive to me, at least.

Wow! Your wife carries an Adamas? You go girl!

I'm glad you ordered a new Adamas. It has a great steel with the D2; it's heavy-duty for about anything you want to do, and should last a long time.
There were lots of good suggestions in the above posts; nice that it was hard for you to go wrong.
Hope you enjoy it,

I'm sure I'll love it, and I can't wait until its here!

Knife you don't want to worry about breaking? Get the adamas. There was a thread of a guy who chopped down a oak tree with his a couple months ago.

The Adamas is a beast. The pocket clip on it though has always looked out of place to me. It's like a 300 lb guy wearing a tiny backpack meant for a child.

And seems to be as protective of her toys as we are.
All 5'1" of her. She's the one that got me into sharp bladed things. Her wedding present to me was a katana replica. Not just a wall-hanger, but a functional modern replica (she couldn't afford a real 300 year old one).

Few of us can, last time I checked you could buy a pretty good vehicle for the price it would take to get an older, or even authentic modern one. I say a working replica is good enough. ;)
