Benchmade Adamas 275 vs Spyderco PM 2

I've had two BM 275's and about 50 PM2's.
If you need a knife for the woods, take the PM.
For anything else, the PM2.
p.s. I love both folders.

I have both a Manix XL and regular model. I love the XL but I find that with the regular version, I don't like the way the lock integrates with my hand position when closing. I like to use one-handed closing and find I can't get enough grip with the frame to get my fingers in the right spots to press the mechanism tightly enough. I have XL hands and the Manix XL works fine but I just don't like dealing with the lock on the regular. I can close the Tenacious with no issues due to the positioning of the liner lock.

I own a good number of Spyderco models but I always just keep going back to the Tenacious. Something about it just gels with me. I wish they offered the regular manix with a Framelock or Liner lock. Or just have a S30V version of the Tenacious. I am not a real big fan of the Manix lock in general. Tries too hard to be like the BM axis but the mechanism is too tight and lacks the smoothness of the axis.

You would like the Sage 1. :)

I'm pretty sure that the obvious answer, once you're down to two options, is to simply buy them both.
Front pocket carry the PM2, rear pocket carry the Adamas. No brain wrenching decisions, and you have a knife for (almost) every situation. Problem solved.

I have them both. They are my favorite knives, but the PM2 is much easier to EDC. The Adamas feels great in hand and is built like a tank. I normally only carry it when I am off work and wearing pants/shorts designed to carry that type of weight. I don't think I could pick a favorite between the two so I would suggest as well to just buy both, you will not be disappointed.

If you would also consider the BM 810, they are available in M390 and M4 for stainless and non stainless tool steel options that trump D2 and s30v in every category.

The PM2 seems to give the impression that the handle/blade ratio is off, and the handle is noticeably larger than it needs to be. Mind you, it isn't, it just looks that way.

I have had both knives and based upon their differences I would suggest the Loco or BM808.
It has the same strength in build as the Adamas.
However, it has thinner more streamline size & shape.
The Loco's blade is the same thickness as the Adamas, but only at the spine.
The Loco's blade is no pry bar, it's S30V with a high grind.
A much better slicer.
You would be crazy or loco not to check it out. ;)

I definitely think you should consider the Loco (BM808). It has the stoutness of the Adamas, with the flexible deployment methods of the PM2, and the working ergos that beat both knives. I wouldn't obsess over steel...that chase can drive you batshit crazy and there are so many other variables to consider than what is printed on the blade. Of your two choices, know that Spyderco S30V (assuming you go stock) and Benchmade D2 are quality steels with a great track record.
