Benchmade AFCK - RIP

I own 7 BMs right now, and will undoubtedly get more. I really don't see a problem with it. Is anyone missing the Leopard Cub, Pinnacle or Darkstar so desperately? Models change over the years. Spydie still has the Delica and Endura, but they could easily rename those 2 with the latest design changes. BM isn't going to go without a 4" axis lock folder, I'm fairly certain of that.

I wanted to buy a Benchmade 910 or 710 with M2 blade, or a 722. They are both discontinued. Doesn't really matter, since I'm broke, and this will stay that way till summer, but I tell you, I'm not happy about this. And please, don't get me started about the Buck Strider 881 which was also discontinued in 2005.

Knife companies SHOULD have a flagship model and you should be able to count on being able to buy a replacement for yours if you wear it out or break it.

Emerson never discontinued the Commander.
Spyderco never discontinued the Endura or Delica or Military.
Al Mar, the SERE 2000. I could go on.

If Benchmade had a flagship model, it's definately the AFCK in one variation or other.

.

Well stated.

Discontinuing the 806 axis is ridiculous.

And Buck still has the 110 (and the 112).

Gentlemen,

My sincerest apologies for using profanity in the general discussion forum. I should have known better and was out of line. I'm sorry.

This is all well and good yet I see that you have not edited your profane language in the post. That needs to be done ASAP.

Seeing as how you are a mod, perhaps you can delete that post for me?

Mods are not in the business of deleting posts. That responsibility lies with you alone.

Is that a fact?

Well since I'm unable to delete my previous post and have little more than singular directives coming from you I guess I have no choice but to edit it myself. I'm sure we can both agree it doesn't contain any expletives now.

The death of the 806 really soured me for some reason. At this current time, BM doesn't really make anything that suits me. I started my knife hobby with BM Balisongs way back when, I have pretty much all of their original folders as well, a few fixed blades, etc. I don't know what BM has planned in the future, but if it's anything like the Skirmish and Rukus, then I'm most likely not going to be in their customer base any longer. I never really like Blackwood's work\designs, Snody I can live with in some cases, but again I prefer more "traditional" Benchmades like the 970/975 and especially the 800/806 series. Just my opinions though.

Yes, it is a fact. We may edit posts but it is copied first to preserve it. And mods can only edit posts or threads in their respective forums. Had this thread been in Community it would have been edited without haste.

Tracker81,

Another fact is that your behavior here needs to improve should you wish to remain as a member.

This is really disheartning.
I guess i am a partial fan-boy of the BM name, and to see them drop all that I thought that made them great is a real kick in the teeth.

I suppose, that growing forward does not always sit popular with everyone, and some get lost along the way in moves forward.

Let us hope, the BM people come out with a sweet little number to replace all that they have chopped, maybe a couple of them.:D

I personally salute the loss of the mentioned models, gone but never forgotten.

c´mon it wasnt that bad, he was just drunk. i mean it was new year and everything and he was pissed off at benchmade. he did apologise.

Yeah, and a SUPER AFCK with a 5" blade!

How about a titanium framelock AFCK?

OTF Auto?:D

Yeah, I'm a fan of the design too. I've owned all of them - used to collect them, now I just have the 806. It's the folder I carry when I'm nervous about where I'm going.

Bastid,

Considering that I voluntarily apologized, and then edited out the profanity from my preceeding post as was requested, I'd like to know how you came to making the above-quoted post.

Profanity aside, you're dreaming if you think you'll halter my freedom of expression. As a mod, if you cannot handle individuals expressing themselves using the tools provided to them within the forum, then perhaps you should reconsider your position.

I know what your thinking - that swearing doesn't constitute one of my individual freedoms, but I took out those words, apologized and still get flack? Oh and regarding this :jerkit: if you find it condescending or offensive perhaps it shouldn't be openely available??

I always felt that bladeforums was about knives and tools. Not about power trips, and bruised egos.

Tracker81 has had as much slack as he's going to get.
