benchmade alternative?

I don't want to rely on my finger to stop the blade from folding. I don't want to have to worry about the blade folding, that's the point here. Fixed blades are illegal where I live, if that wasn't the case I'd have a lot more options.

If you must run around stabbing things, at least listen to the people trying to point out proper technique. If you want a folding knife to stab the christ out of objects with, but you also want to hold it at the butt end of the handle only, you're asking us to suggest which knife you're going to cut off your fingers with.

Well for one thing don't stab things like a meth-addled monkey, and for another don't think that every linerlock or framelock is going to be functionally identical to a gas station special that you managed to cut yourself with.
Had to quote this for emphasis 🤣🤣

I have to agree with others here. If stabbing is a go to requirement, I would take a look at some of the great small edc fixed blades on the market now. The bradford guardian 3.5 has been a great edc sized knife that gives you a full purchase and you can stab to your hearts content. Then of course there are a myriad of other choices in the same realm like white river knives, ESEE, Ontario and others. Stab to your hearts content and dont worry about your folders lock as much.

However if you simply must stab things with a folder going to a triad lock might be advantageous. Axis locks are great though I dont know of very many people making assisted versions other than BM. Hogue has been knocking it out of the park with their able lock (just an axis lock post patent expiration) though to my knowledge none of them are assisted open and frankly, with how smooth Hogue has been making their production able lock folders you probably wont need the assist.

Get a CS swift, helluva locking sys and assisted.... what's not to like,oh yeah they are discontinued but occasionally available at various outlets

Been a Benchmade fan for many years, need something different. Dropped Kershaw after they sold out, plus I only really liked their leek (which was nothing more than a box cutter... a fantastic box cutter).

Requirements:

Folding knife
Made in USA
AXIS type of locking mechanism (liner/frame locks are garbage and dangerous)
Assisted opening

(Microteks are hard to find and their website is shit, please don't suggest one if you don't have a link)
It sounds like you are describing the Hogue Ritter.

And yet, you used a Leek to stab a log "with a knife blade side down and carrying it", resulting in you, predictably, injuring yourself, and then blaming ALL frame locks/liner locks.
And you're looking for an axis lock, so that after you stab things with a "deathgrip", you can "quickly close it one handed", and ideally it should be assisted cuz it's 1996 or something.
None of this makes sense.

I wish you luck.

(Is anyone going to mention how easy it is to release an Axis Lock if you put your thumb or a finger near it when you're trying to carry the log?)

(Asking for a friend.)

To be fair he did say that the leak was merely a box cutter. I dont think the OP said which folder he hurt himself with that was either a frame or liner lock though I do not find myself within the camp of those saying they are unsafe. Im not in the habit of using any folding knife as a stabbing instrument unless forced to do so. Thats what fixed blades are for even if they are illegal to carry it sounds like the only reason the OP needs to stab is for this log type of thing which presumably would be on your own property thus the carry laws wouldnt come into effect.

Get a Strider SnG with a badass case of lockstick. You’ll be fine.

Just make sure to carry some Vise Grips when you need to close it after your stabbing spree.

Hmmm . . . or a Spyderco Farid K2. Those locks stick like a tiny elf with a stick welder ran a nice bead of weld on both sides of the lock and blade tang each time you open it. I hear the best way to unstick a stuck frame lock is to stab it into a log and . . . oh. Wait.

He said:
I see I need to put the stabbing into context...

Picking up one end of a log by stabbing the it with a knife blade side down and carrying it. That has to be something everyone can relate to here.

This happened over 10 years ago when I was a teenager... Likely was the Kershaw Blur (liner) or the Leek (frame) that got me good enough to influence me to never use a knife like that again.

Alright, I seriously do hope the OP finds something he likes and can use the way he wants to use it. And safely.
I don't share some of his opinions and I don't use knives like he does so I can't offer him the help or information he seeks.
So with that, I will excuse myself.
Have a great Monday.

don't see how the Triad is any better than the AXIS.
For me, this makes it better, but you do you:

The only times that I can see myself intentionally or accidentally putting pressure on the lock mechanism of a folder is 1) during a fight or 2) using the knife in a pinch to get out of a room/car or other unexpected situation. Maybe I have to drag an emergency log somewhere. Whatever.

IF and when I find myself in one of these situations (hopefully never) I want the strongest lock I can afford.

I’m not worried about how fast I can CLOSE my knife, but that’s just me.

I understand the integrity of everyone's liner/frame lock knife collection is at stake here...

i joke i joke.

Thank you all for the amusing retorts. Sincerely, enjoy yourselves and your knives : )
