 I just received confirmation that Benchmade is making a
special make up mini afck, full carbon fiber, axis lock, with m2 steel, and there will some available in Feb, or March, and I have already reserved one of the first fifty, I have waited a long time for this, the mini afck (814), has been one of my favorite knives for a while now, oval hole or no oval hole, I've always loved that knife, can't wait to get one!

A dealer friend of mine told me, I can email you details if you're interested, I hope they do it right too, I'm sure they will.

I heard a rumor on the BM Forum that they would be making the full size AFCK with an Axis lock soon but I hadn't heard about the mini.

Hang on to you pants !! If this becomes a normal production, its going to take the market by storm, just watch :)

I also heard that Spyderco is making a Millie with the Axis lock, and Toyota is making the MR2 Spyder with the Axis lock, and Subway is making footlong subs with the Axis lock.

Not to be a pain, but I'll believe it when I see it. I love that lock, but BM is slow to do anything.

LOL Heeheehee

You guys laugh it up, but I've heard that knife
will be a reality, don't when we'll see one though.
Hopefully soon, sounds like a sweet one.

BM ought to take this opportunity with the liner-lock out of the way to correct the blade-to-handle ratio.

If this mythical beast actually appears, I wouldn't complain if the handles were shortened-up either. I think that's almost certainly too much to ask for, but it'd be a nice touch.

:) They are making it, but I was wrong, it will be a
full size afck first, and then maybe short one later, depending
on how the bigger does.

The bigger one will kick ass of course. I also wouldn't mind the handle being a little shorter though.

It seems that the BM axis lock is the best thing going in knife inovation right now. I hope they strike while the iron is hot!

Maybe someone who knows more about knife engineering than I can explain this a little better, but in what way is the AFCK's poor blade to handle ratio related to its handle shape? I ask because, compared to my 710, the AFCK's blade is a hair shorter and the handle is about .5"longer, but the AFCK's handle is much more comfortable for me. Could the AFCK's handle be shortened without compromising its feel?

Oh, and yes, an AFCK Axis would fukcing rule!

Yes, I believe it could. I broke the tip off of an ATS-34 AFCK and reground it. Then it seemed only logical to me to chop some off the end of the handle to match, so I just took a hack saw and cut about a quarter of an inch or so off the handle. It worked out really well.

I like the AFCK handle though. I don't mind it being a little longer than the blade myself.

I've always liked the extended handle on the AFCK because it makes a good blunt impact weapon when you hold it in your hand. I like the option to use the knife as non-lethal weapon should the need arise.

I don't know about the weapon thing, but I have no problem with handles that are bigger than their corresponding blades. If nothing else, it's one way to carry a fairly sizable knife that fits a legal limit.
