About a year and a half ago I picked up a Benchmade axis lock. A 943 Osborne, witch I considered a high end/high dollar knife that would last me, and maybe I could pass down... But just tonight... the pin failed to set the lock (pin should be up in pic).
Only Me...

I sent in my info when I bought the knife new(alpha). Never got anything back about warranty info... is it covered (omega)?

I thought the Axis lock would still engage as long as at least one of the springs was working. I can't imagine both springs broke at the same time, so either something else is wrong, or it actually needs both springs to function.
Benchmade will fix it in less than a week is my guess. Maybe they'll be able to tell you what went wrong and you can fill us in.

give em a call. they've been nothing but helpful and courteous in my experience. i sent them my 940, expecting to pay them for a new blade and not only did they comp the blade replacement but cleaned, sharpened [qc on warranty work is MUCH better than otd knives], and replaced the clip. came back looking knew again, having been ridden hard and put away wet many a time

It looks like the blade isn't touching the stop pin...thought it's hard to see from the pictures.

There wouldn't happen to be something in between the stop pin the the back of the blade? Broken omega springs are pretty obvious (I've had two), since moving the Axis bar back suddenly becomes easier and grittier--yet even on my broken ones the blade still locked solidly open.

mechanical things break, dont matter whos name is on it......

The real test of a company is how they stand behind thier product, im my past dealing with BM you wont have a single problem there

that's true. I once sent in a BM which needed warranty work. they promptly fixed it and even paid for return shipping (I'm OCONUS) - no other company has done that for me before since I'm OCONUS.

I've had 3 broken springs by now (2/2 on a 710HS and 1/2 on a 707) and the axis lock works with one broken spring - it's just easier to engage. My guess is that one broke and highwaychild just didn't recognize it until the second one broke.

Just get some piano wire and make the springs yourself.

And yes, the Axis lock does fail outright every once in a while. No mechanism is going to be made perfectly every time, that's why I love flippers so much (finger guard), and actually don't mind slip joints anymore.

ive seen alot of ppl complaining about omega springs lately. thankfully when you spend money on a benchmade part of that money buys you a damn good warranty. and lets be serious who here only has one knife?

Thanks Guys, I'm sure glad BM's warranty is so good.

I've got a BM 710 to keep me company until it get back home.

I'll try and post back if/when I find out the cause.

Well I just now got around to sending it off... It's Oregan City bound.
I hope it gets there safe and sound, I did get insurance, just in case.
