The only issue I had with my Bedlam was in tight spaces you had to hold the knife in unnatural ways to get the right angle on cuts in tight areas, the Houge would be a much better knife for all around work and fair very well for last self protection. Plus from a defensive point of view it's lighting fast out of pocket with practice, not as quick as a wave but still damn fast , I have the drop point and it has replaced my other knives easily. Love both of them and can't wait to replace my Bedlam, but would never trade it for a EX-01 though.
As far as blade play with the BM, never had any. Or the EX-01 for that matter.
Hey Nternal, have you ever looked at the Buck Paradigm?Only 4.2 ounces,s30v and a deep carry pocket clip.

anybody else have any input before I take the jump I am ordering one of these two today.
I guess that you've looked at the ZT 200 before. Not a lot of issues with that knife except weight.

im just wondering if anyone else experiences any issues with the safety?? was it just me or is this a common issue? the potential for buying a knife that would impede its own deployment doesnt concern you one bit?
The Bedlam is a very good EDC knife. It does seem like a weapon only knife, but I do a lot of utility work with it as well. It’s built like a tank, I have had no problem with blade play and the only thing on my knife that is showing some wear is the pocket clip, it has a few scratches.
I tested it out on a second chance vest and it stabbed right through it (if your ever planning on taking it to combat zone:thumbup

In this video, the guy says that the safety will not engage and impede the deployment if the knife is closed.

he may say it in the video, but mine was rather loose right out the box and it did prevent me from opening the knife a few times, which is why i dont carry it anymore. the safety is completely unecessary on this knife anyway, its not an assisted or switch blade. for a SD knife you definitely wouldnt want something to go wrong. maybe ask the dealer you buy from to inspect the safety for you, get a firm one.
