Benchmade bedlam vs Hogue ex01

i wouldve returned the knife if it seems to be malfunctioning. My vote goes to the Hogue as it is more usable for general utility. If you want a knife for SD or cool factor id say go with the Bedlam.

I have two,and the locks were a little looose, but it did not cause any problems.

also, i did notice that the hogue safety did engage closed and did impede opening. i couldn't figure it out for the life of me at first. it also would become engaged in pocket. never really saw it as a flaw though, as the bedlam is the only knife i've ever looked at as self defense.

i'm a larger man so self defense hasn't been an issue

I only own the Bedlam, but I can safely say it is my favorite "tactical" knife I own for the sole purpose of self defense. For general utility, there are better knives IMO. Fits my hand perfectly, beautiful blade shape, not centered though. I have the manual satin variant.

I see what your saying, Self defense hasn't been an issue for me either but I do realize that most people that you would have a serious problem with don't "fight fair" and you would probably be facing another weapon or more than one person.A drunk at a party that's messing with you and is just begging to be knocked out is not what I am talking about. I think I am going to go with the bedlam, probably with the satin plain edge..I really like the steel pommel too.

Update!

I just got my bedlam and I love it, I have no complaints. It is easily now my favorite tactical knife.
