Benchmade Bone Collector (longish term review) Update post 27 (2016)

Belated thanks for the excellent review.

I have a small BC with a slimmed down handle and it's a perfect EDC size. I was surprised at how big the large model is compared to the Insingo.

This is how reviews are supposed to be done. I'll probably never do one this good because I can't keep the same knife in my pocket for very long.

ha ha ....me too.
I got a BC two weeks ago and still haven't carried it yet.

If you don't like your Benchmade Bone Collector to resemble a Spyderco, but with an AXIS Lock , fear not:

Yep, you can have a Bone Collector that thinks it is a Buck 110! Shown above, with my very worn EDC BM 755 MPR is the new 15050-2 Bone Collector Lockback Folder. Same D2 blade - but with a thumb nick. Cocobolo handle - nice touch. Yeah, it's getting some carry - in the back pocket... the 755 still rides 'up front'.

Thanks for this review! It was really helpful when deciding on this knife... I just picked one up off of the 'bay for just over $100 and really looking forward to it! From the looks of it, it looks like an upgraded 550HG for around the same price. Thanks again

I know you will not be disappointed. I'm a huge fan of this model, and have been edc'ing it since April. In my opinion, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better, more durable folder at it's street price point.

This is the folder that turned me back on to Benchmade after 11 years of toting CRK's exclusively.

Great review, M. Perhaps you might consider giving your BC some pocket time this weekend for old times' sake? :)

So an update after a few years. This model is now discontinued, but remains one of my favorites.

This knife has been in and out of rotation, but up until recently it has not seen as much pocket time as it use to. I recently reground the blade to a high convex. It is around 0.21mm behind the edge at the heel and thickening up towards the tip. On average around 0.37mm. Re-blasted the clip and she has seen a lot more pocket time.

Below is a comparison to a standard Bone Collector of my brother in law.

Concluding remarks.

A trustworthy knife used for years got new life. Sees a lot more pocket time. For a future replacement the new G10 Grip is high on the list.
