Benchmade Bugout - Alright, why doesn't this seem to exist

Indeed it does not exist. It's easier to find a jackalope than getting this knife up here in Canada!
It's on my wishlist since day one, but so far I'm not lucky to grab one.

How much bigger would you want the blade to be? I can’t imagine it being any bigger than 3.6” (or the size of a Ritter Grip.)

I just want to make sure they keep the same blade profile. It’s a great slicer!

I like a 3.5 inch blade and the extra real estate that goes with it handle wise. But I'd be ok with it being a little larger. Probably won't happen though as it size is just right for most people.

A retailer in Vancouver had them 2-3 weeks ago and I asked my wife to get me one for Christmas. Hopefully she ordered me one, but she ain’t tellin’.

I love my Griptilian, but the Bugout looks perfect for me as an EDC. The light weight especially.

I've used other members of the 53x series for years and I strongly prefer the Bugout, FWIW. When actually cutting stuff, particularly where you're applying a lot of force, I find the Bugout handle much more comfortable than a 530 handle. IMO, it's a great knife, probably my favorite Benchmade, and I have piles of them.
I don't have a lot of BMs but of the ones I do have, I much prefer the Bugout. I've only had it for a couple weeks, but it has not only become my favourite BM but maybe of any knife. The Bugout (just my opinion mind you) could very well be one of the best EDC knives around, even better than my 940 -2.

I have stopped carrying anything but the Bugout.

Used to be I grabbed whatever knife happened to be close when I left the house. A real variety in rotation, with no clear favorite.

Now I leave the house with the 535, and that's that. It really addresses the "C" in "EDC"... the Carry is just plain awesome.

Clipped to the pocket, it rides so deep and light it's like it isn't there. Don't want to use the clip? No problem, just drop it into the bottom of your slacks pocket. It's thin and light enough to not make it obtrusive.

Sometimes I'll slide it into a slot in my Maxpedition EDC. It doesn't add any weight or bulk to it.

Nick Shabazz turned a few folks off with his review, showing how "squishy" the scales were. Grab one and use it for yourself, you'll soon find that Nick's concern about the scales is completely unfounded. This puppy will take it.

If it seems like I'm gushing over this damned thing, it's because I am. I swear I can't help myself.

Have any of you guys sharpened, re-beveled, or polished the edge on your Bugout yet? I’m wondering what the best sharpening angle is on this. I really want to take this slicer to the next level! :)

Bugout has officially replaced my 940 as my edc. It is all I carry now days as well. Just like it more and more.

Well this is basically a repeat of the posters above me, but I absolutely love my Bugout. It replaced both my Benchmade 940-2 and my Southern Grind Spider Monkey as I sold those because the Bugout beats them out for carry every time for me. I carry it every day off work and I don't see that changing any time soon. Fantastic EDC knife

Just bought one on the Big River with a Gift Card given to me. Excited to try it out.

Just picked one up at a local brick and mortar store for 94.75 after coupon.

Symmetrical grinds, centering is spot on and drop free action with no blade play!

Had to pick through a few to get the perfect specimen.

What's not to like?

Looks like this one's gonna be a keeper!

That’s a great deal. Amazing knife for under $100 for sure.

Mine is on it’s way and was just under $115US (in Canada). Still couldn’t be happier with the price!

Picked one up a few weeks ago and love the thin profile and pocket clip. Love everything but the plasticity handles, but solved that with a pair of aftermarket carbon fiber scales. Now the buyout is my primary carry when I want a larger carry (generally prefer blade lengths under three inches). First knife to edge out my zt0450cf or my bm940.

It's kind of funny seeing this old thread back up, and I especially laughed at my bubbly comments about the Bugout. After pret near a year of owning the Bugout, my enthusiasm has moderated a touch. It still is ONE of my favourites, but not strictly my favourite over all. That honoured title is usually reserved for whatever my newest knife is.

I would say that the 535 shares equal billing with my 531 (with the 531 slightly ahead - absolutely love that knife). The Bugout does shine as my "jammy" knife, in that it is what I carry around the house the most. I am glad I did purchase the Bugout when I did and am glad I got the blue scaled version over the OD one. I kind of warmed up to the blue color afterall.

The first knife I've ever owned that I forget I'm carrying it. I hate to say it, but...it has replaced my 940 for EDC.

For now.
