FYI, They just made a customer for life.

Honestly I think its amazing that in this day in age, where companies manufacture things overseas, and everything is about profit margin and a fast buck, that a company like Benchmade operates the way it does.

Hat's off to you guys. I won't be hesitating to recommend you to family and friends just based off of your customer service alone. Not to mention the mighty fine blades you guys make. Go Benchmade!

Ah, sorry for posting in the wrong section.

I had purchased a D2 mini griptilian, and a large griptilian. Both came not sharp from the factory, the D2 one was so dull I couldn't get it sharp with any method I tried. The axis lock on the mini grip was also really loose. I sent both knives back to benchmade. They sent both knives back, after having looked both of them over. They made sure the large grip was razor sharp, oiled it etc. The D2 grip they put a new blade on, and completely rebuilt it. They sent both back, with a sweet benchmade teeshirt. Both knives feel tighter, and higher quality than any griptilian I've picked up in the store.

Upon further examination almost 2 months later, the mini griptilian blade steel was replaced with 154cm. I called benchmade about it, and they told me they would talk to the person who serviced the knife, and get back to me. I checked my voicemail today, and without me asking, or any back and forth whatsoever, I had a message saying the following:

They apologized for the inconvenience, and rather than me have to send my knife back in to be re-serviced, they are just going to send me a new D2 mini griptilian. They don't want the old knife back. So, basically they just sent me a free knife.

This kind of customer service is unheard of. They've already made their money back, as I just purchased two Benchmades today as presents. Lately I've been preferring Spyderco, but I decided to get the Benchmades as gifts because I know my loved ones will be well taken care of with their customer service.

I think it is just great that in today's slimy business world, that a company like Benchmade exists and still cares about long term patronage.

So, thanks Benchmade!

I love to hear this kind of stuff. We get so used to everything seeming to be made overseas that sometimes we forget that the U.S.A. can still boast of having some of the finest manufacturing and customer service capabilities anywhere. My Grip is one of my favorites, and it's good to know that when and if it needs help Benchmade will come through like champions with no BS and no hassles. Yay!!!!

Benchmade has actually recently dropped all overseas lines and AFAIK is completely US manufactured these days. Very good in my book.

Amen, hallelujah! I wish they would all do that- It's not always easy figuring out which Spydercos and Kershaws, etc. etc, are U.S.made. It would be nice not to have to worry about it. I have no issues with Japanese or Taiwanese knives generally but I'll always buy American if I can.

they only make benchmades in America, but some of the harley davidson line and H&K line are made overseas, basically the red class was put into the HD and HK lines. so technically they "make" knives overseas ;)

I've always been suspicious of knives which carry brands other than those of the actual maker.....plus I have issues with doing peoples' advertising for them- I wouldn't EVEN buy anything with a HK or HD logo, especially since I own neither a Harley nor a Heckler.
