Benchmade Exclusive Thoughts?

I think I new special run of the 940 series is long over due. A different color handle and a more exotic blade steel like M390 I think would be a hot seller.

i'm lovin all the 94x series suggestions... keep it up! i'd be all for a 943 in m390. i'd prefer cf, ti, al scales in that order. and like i said, a ffg benchie would be SICK. and the 94x series is perfect for it!

also, properly hardened super and tool steels would be cool haha...

+1 on that. If you did a Grip with G-10 scales and a high end steel it would be an instant sell-out!

Griptilian with G10 in any high-end steel would be fantastic.

I love my Grips (3), but not a fan of the plastic handles. The overall size/shape and axis lock keep me coming back.

My 755 MPR has become a favorite EDC... what a knife. I, too, thought an assisted open version - larger, not quite so heavy, blade - M390 would be nice. My 581 filled that need, so I am good. My 551 Grip, in 440C, was my first BM - never warmed up to it.

The 741 Onslaught or the 746 Mini-Onslaught in Bohler M390 or Crucible M4 would be good to me.

So...any updates from the Recon 1 gang as to what you're leaning toward? :)

The MPR is my favorite Benchmade, so I'd love a sprint run in that with a different G-10 color and super steel. I think good ol' black G-10 would actually be a nice change of pace from the green G-10 on the regular MPR, and for the steel my choice would be CPM-S90V or CTS-20CP, its Carpenter equivalent. If Benchmade doesn't have the grinders and so forth to work with S90V/20CP, Elmax would be my second choice. (Yes, freedoom, I'm starting to sound exactly like you with the Barrage. :D )

I wouldn't be as keen on the LFTI. I'm a huge titanium framelock fan, but unless the blade shape were changed (maybe going from a tanto to a Hinderer-style spanto would be a small enough change to be feasible?), I'd probably have to pass on that one.

Doesn't the MPR come with M390? Wouldn't Elmax be a downgrade in the definition of 'super steel'? Maybe I'm mistaken but I thought M390 should hold an edge longer than Elmax?

My vote is again for the Rift in M390. I have the M4 version and it isn't hard enough so edge retention isn't as good as it should be or much better than the 154CM in the regular model although it will get silly sharp without much work.

Oh, I know, that's why I mentioned S90V/20CP as my first choice since they're among the few steels that can top M390 in terms of edge retention. The suggestion of Elmax if S90V/20CP doesn't work was just me being selfish and wanting another version of the MPR even if the steel isn't really an upgrade. :D

I don't think I would hold my breath for a model in S90V or Carpenter steels. ELMAX wouldn't be a downgrade, it's just different not necessarily better or worse for the regular user.

As you can see from most posts, M390 would be the way to go. We are currently tossing around the idea on a 530, 950, or possibly a 915 (may have to wait a little longer to make this one hapen). I'm a fan of Foliage, and don't know of any Benchmade with that color handle, but I know Coyote is very desirable too...

A 530 in m390 would be a nice little slicer.
It would be, but the last (and only, to date) 530 LE in S30V which was REI exclusive didn't sell well at all.
950 in M390 with blue/black G10 handles will sell out quickly. You can count on that.

Awesome! I'd get on the order list for a 950 with M390 and Foliage Green G-10 in a heartbeat.

Most of the time, when non-standard G-10 colors are involved, BM dyes/paints/coats their handles. Even though the coating is very sturdy I'd prefer to see a natural color.

Yeah, I'm not too picky about the color, and would actually prefer your suggestion of blue/black G-10 (or one of the other ____/black G-10 colors) to foliage green.
