Benchmade Exclusive Thoughts?

Still workin on it...looks like a M390 tan g10 950 is looking promising, but the 940 is still in the hunt...
 
Since the rift looks promising, how about the rift with carbon fiber handles and elmax or s90v?
 
Since Benchmade has never worked with S90V or Elmax I don't have much hope it ending up in a knife, at least not any time soon. M390 seems to work really good for me and I believe should have better edge holding than Elmax. Heck, I wouldn't even mind D2 since their heat treat of it seems to hold an edge better than most other steels they use.

I really hope yall go with the Rift. Tan G10 is Ok and can probably be dyed many different colors for those that like to mod their knives and should turn a nice jet black for those that like a regular black knife. I'm not sure I would buy the 940 as I'm just not a fan of the long skinny blades and I'm definitely not a fan of aluminum handles. I might buy one if it ended up with some G10 scales instead of the aluminum but I would much rather have the Rift and like I said before I would probably buy at least 3 of them if they aren't priced at MAPP pricing and are lower and more in line with old Benchmade prices and other companies pricing.
 
I'm way late for this but i think a 551 with g10/carbon fiber handles and m390 would sell out fast.

this would cover all the issues people don't like about the grip. cheap handles and blade steel. people pay 100$ of dollars for new handles alone

but whatever knife and steel that u choose make sure benchmade puts a good heat treatment on the steel plz.
 
Thanks everybody for your feedback, we are reviewing all possible options and will be making a decision shortly! We just received a phone call yesterday that Recon 1 was chosen Benchmade's 2011 DEALER OF THE YEAR!!!! So thrilled!!!

I started a thread over on the Benchmade forum about a Rift in M390 without knowing that someone was working on it on this forum. If it happens, I want in as long as the price is reasonable (other Limited Edition knives for other dealers go for less than $200...).
 
Updates from the Recon 1 folks? Like the other folks who bumped this thread, I'm eager to see what the final decision is (and, after that, the estimtaed price). :)
 
Rift with ivory micarta scales and a m390 stonewashed blade.
Also add in a machined backspacer with glassbreaker.
