I'm wondering if this used 940-2 is authentic, it's older than my 943 (which I bought from a Benchmade dealer). I noticed several discrepancies and a little concerned that I bought a fake. The blade finish, laser markings, box and foam are all different. It also doesn't have a mfg date on the label, not sure if that's something that wasn't previously included?

Has anyone heard of a fake grip 551h2o? I was just gifted one and I’m not sure if it’s real or a fake. The thing that is throwing me off is there is a patent number on the blade under Mel Pardue. None of my other grips have this marking. I have a grip I purchased from bladehq and one I ordered from benchmades custom shop. If it is fake, it is a really good fake.

Sounds legit, the older ones had the patent number. Pics would help though.
 
the older ones have the pat number, then they switched to a web address listing the pat #s, and now that the patent has expired on the regular, unassisted axis lock, there isn’t anything about it on most if their knives now
 
I just purchased this off eBay for $117. Seller claims is real obviously. I hope it's real because I have been wanting another serrated black for awhile to beat on. To keep my original and first ever Benchmade safe and clean.This is what the seller had to say.

Hi all! Brand new to the forum. Been researching knives lately and I picked this one up. Benchmade 5220. Trying to see your thoughts on legitimacy. Feels solid on lockup and from everything I have seen looks legit. Only thing that seems off is the weight is at 4.6 oz and the specs from benchmade say it’s 4.8 oz. Let me know what you guys think.
 
I don't have it now (6 years back), it seem it was from benchmade (remember the butterfly logo).
Blade was broad, folding (similar to aller) without lock, shape semi circular blade.

What is this or is it fake?
 
Ok, so I have a bit of an issue. Recently I purchased ANOTHER 940 from sportsman’s warehouse, and the box was open(the seal had been cut), so I had informed the worker who had helped me and he said, “it’s just open because we have to open all our packages to see if they’re the right ones.” I was a bit skeptical because he could be lying and I wanted to know if it’s real.
pros: Smooth, logo looks legit, purple backspacer, parkerized clip.
Con: scales aren’t chalky, box was opened
Sorry if I’m anal, but it would be great if you could help.
