Benchmade fans - need a recommendation

Mini Crooked River no question. The knife also holds better resale value if you get it and it's not for you.

The 940 packs a lot of blade for the size but it doesn't slice as well as the Mini CR.
 
I vote for 940-1, or 940-2 or 940-1501 (kw exclusive). The alum handle of 940 will scratch up easily.
