Benchmade Gold Class Mini Grip Limited Run

$650? Now way.

For all you guys complaining about BM's MSP. You have no understanding of what Minimum Advertised Price means. It means you can't advertise prices below the MAP online or in print ads etc.
But you can sell it for whatever you want you just can't Advertise the lower price.

That used to be the case, but around Christmas time they started enforcing MAP pricing. Any dealer selling for less than map will be cut off by BM. Hence why everyone is unhappy with them.

Meh...the complaints on pricing I understand in terms of how practical it makes it for an EDC, but there are also a lot of other knives with similar materials and similar pricing.

I think it's one of Benchmade's best designs to date. Some places had them for as low as $500, but it's certainly still a pretty big price tag.

I really wish Benchmade would make a production model like this, perhaps with a less expensive inlay. The manufacturing quality is fantastic. The fit and finish is flawless. The general design addressed many complaints on the Grip. And Benchmade moving to a more durable coating is IMO a step in the right direction.

However, think about the amount it costs to buy a Grip and then buy titanium Wilkins scales for it. While less than $500, it's not a ton less, and it doesn't come with a M4 blade, and I think the quality of the Gold Class is equal to or better.

Very aesthetically pleasing to my eye. But just like everyone else mentioned... the price is just out there. You'd really have to be a axis lock fan to get this... 650 is a damascus sebenza with micarta inlays!!

A mini grip with titanium and m4 for 650. A gayle bradley ,full sized, with carbon fiber and m4 for 135. I have a number of Benchmades , some high end limited editions (no gold class), and I have never seen a Benchmade with as nice a fit and finish as the Spyderco bradley. Five times as expensive? Really?

And bananas at 59 cents a pound, and a Frost Cutlery for 899...eight dollars and ninety-nine cents that is :)

I think you might be the one that doesn't quite understand. It's beyond MAP pricing now, it's a actually called Unilateral Price Protection. Regardless of the advertisement, retailers cannot sell below the set dollar amount because they risk losing teir Benchmade lineup entirely.

I gotta admit that the more I look at it the more I'm liking it, except for the blue inlay, I've never been into inlays.

Think about this:
Hinderer XM-18 direct price - $385
Hinderer Ti scale - $200
Hinderer blue Ti scale screws, pivot screw, LBS, and standoffs - $82
Total - $667

Benchmade GC Mini-Grip - $650

We can't buy hinderers direct from the factory. Because rick thinks we suck and he hates us.

Definitely a great looking design IMO., but certainly not worth the $650 price tag. Especially when companies like ZT are putting out knives with similar materials for far less than half that price.

I believe a more reasonable MSRP would be around the $250-$300 mark.

Wasn't there a special version of the Sequel with M390 at about $250 or so? I thought that the price tag was too high. Once you are at $250 or above, I start thinking of customs.

Well, let me start by saying I love the mini-grip.
I've carried the M2 Ritter version for years now and absolutely love it.
So, it only seems normal that I would want this model.
It is not a Wilkins/M4 griptilian, nor would I have preferred that.
It stays true to BM's original mini-grip design.
Anodized Ti scales in the original griptilian shape with added scale jimping on the butt end.
Where can you get that?
A dark gray DLC coated & crowned CPM-M4 (62-64 HRC) Blade.
Where can you get that?
This is a very limited production.
All of these things make this knife very distinct.
It's not a Sebenza....it's not supposed to be.
It's supposed to be the top of line mini-grip and it is just that.
Is it worth $500?
If you tried to recreate this by combining Wilkins Ti grips with a dark gray DLC coated & crowned CPM-M4 (62-64 HRC) blade, with satin hardware and blue anodized titanium barrel spacers and thumb stud's....how much do you think that would cost ya?
I have one and am quite pleased.
F&F is near perfection.
I have found no flaws.
The DLC alone is out of this world beautiful.

Your pics are great, Keyman. It's a lovely knife, with superior materials. No question.

Still, I can't help but feel that $650 is waaaay out there. Too rich for my blood.

So why is PNSXYR saying he sees a $650 BM selling for $500? Either way if it is "Unilateral Price Protection" folks should complain about that and stop talking about MAP because, well like I said before.
Besides I just went to price a 551 at a well known selling in those Smoky hill....ADVERTSED at $109 not the $115 on BM's website. In fact every BM on the Smoky site is priced less than listed on BM's website. What exactly is BM's policy?

In fact all I did was "Google Shop" for a 551 and I can find one advertised for $82.25, also for $89.25 and $99.99........Really enforcing that MAP.
