I'm a spydie guy and covet the hole, but on my one and only mini I actually got the 556 because of the blade shape. Like mentioned, who needs anything but the axis lock to open & close these? So smooth and easy I never use the stud unless I just want to mess with it.
actually u could get a para millie 2 at a few places for about the same price as the grip. in any case i vote for the hole, just easier to use and nothing to snag on. can be converted to wave with a wire tie mod.
I like the thumbstud better personally. I own the Ritter Grips and a 550HG and I much prefer the Ritters. Plus, I open the knife by the axis lock anyways.
i got one with the hole and i love it. I don't really like thumb studs but either one you get the griptillian is a great knife. Actually I am going to sell it because I have too many knives in my EDC rotation so if you are interested PM me. Plus I have the Sog visionary 2 which I think is actually a better knife for the same money with the same type of lock but different blade shape of course.
Holy thread resurrection! I'm sure the OP has made a decision after 2 years. Looking through all the posts I see the same annoying replies that creep up in these type threads. The OP asks about studs or hole on a Grip and people just have to recommend a completely different knife.
From my point of view, it is all about blade shape. I do not care about how easy it is to open. Never failed to do it - stud or hole! I would go with stud. I have Grips with both stud and hole, and ones with stud look better and have more utilitarian point in my opinion.
