Hey, I know Benchmade makes great knives! Truly! So far, they haven’t won my heart. This is not a fault finding post, honest! Groove on Benchmade fans. 👍😇

Early in 2023 I went a little goofy buying budget knives. I kept 3 Kershaw Leeks, gave 2 away and started returning any knives that didn’t ring my bell. I test drove about a dozen budget knives. I also kept 2 CJRB knives. A new version Pyrite and an Ekko. I decided to stop buying budget knives and get willing to pay more to get more. I bought a CF Benchmade Bugout in s90v and a cf 940 also in s90v. I cycled them plenty and sliced paper just fine yet…………..I didn’t get that “love it” feeling. I didn’t like the “gritty” feeling one gets when slowly returning the blade and feeling the lock as it slides out of the blade. Granted, this is weird inspection criteria but the way the lock engages and disengages when locked just did not feel slick with either the Bugout or the 940. So back they went. My next purchase was a CRK small Sebenza in Magnacut with Ebony inlays. The bell started ringing. Since then, I’ve picked up WE knifes, more than one Spyderco and a Pro-Tech Malibu. All of these fit my personal better so far.

I can take or leave pretty all the BM folders, but I will be happy to go on record to state that the Adamas line is my favorite production folder family. I don't usually "collect", so for me to actual spend real money to snag an Auto, Mini, and Full Size of the same knife means I like it. I'm not so much as pro BM as much as I am an Adamas fanboi.

I have nothing against Spyderco and will always hold Sal et al as heroes to this hobby and community. However, most of their knives just aren't my cup of tea.

Thankfully we can all purchase what we like :)
