I'm trying to decide which one to get for general EDC task. I've handled the both and still can't decide. Any opinions?

Thanks,
Jack

Another vote for the full size Grip'. I have a mini, and I like it, but there are times when it feels a little small, both in blade length, and handle chord.

Every knife is a compromise between various factors, and a bigger bolder is going to take up more space in your pocket. If your knife needs are mostly limited to what you would see in an office job (envelopes, stubborn snack bags and the occaisional padded mailing envelope), then the mini is probably the better choice, because it's easier to carry. Or, if you're able to back it up with a 3.5" to 4.5" fixed blade.

If you work outside, or someplace like a warehouse where your knife gets frequent, intermittent use all day, then the big Grip' is the way to go. Likewise, if your off-time is spent in the yard, garden, or wilderness spaces.

Mini Grip. I have had the full-size Griptilian, and it is a wonderful EDC knife. But I gave my son the Mini a few years ago, and now I wish I had one. It is still way more than enough knife for typical EDC tasks, and much less obtrusive to carry. Either way, it is hard to go wrong.

I'd go with the mini. My cutting task are very limited when I'm out and about. I prefer small slim knife in my pocket because the reality is that's where it stays 99% of the time. If I'm home I have a wide variety of knives to access for different cutting task.

Both.

Some days you full sized. Some days you don't.

I have several full sized Grips but carry the minis more.

I originally wanted a mini Grip but bought a used full size for $20 bucks and have been very happy with the larger size. You should really get both but, if you are only buying one, make it full size.

Also, before you spend your cash on a Griptilian consider Benchmade's HK 14715 and 14716. Many consider them better than the Grip and they are less money if my memory is correct.

Depends completely on your lifestyle and usage. I own one of each. I leave the full sized in the car. It is bigger than I need for most daily tasks. The mini is what I would carry on me if it were between the two.

It is all about your preference. If you like small knives, go with mini, but, it is quite small. The full size will give you much more handle. The full size is not huge, it is a great size for EDC.

This is such a personal decision.

It depends on so many things that only you can figure out...

What feels better in hand?
Local laws?
What do you use your knife for (do you need a bigger knife, will the shorter blade do everything you do with your knife?)
Is "sheeple friendly" important? (Typically smaller knives scare the sheep less)
Aesthetics of a small vs larger knife?

Just answer the questions above and you will have your answer..

Depends on the job and what youre doing with it.

If the majority of your cutting is cardboard, opening packages, tape, and letters (90% of people here) then Id say Mini grip in 20cv or s30v would be the ideal EDC blade. (556-1)

If you abuse your knife as say a carpenter, home builder, dry wall, etc. Full grip in M4 for a heavy abuse/outdoor knife. (benchmade site custom)

Personally Id have both laying around :)

Id say mini unless you truly NEED a very very strong knife that is going to take high abuse. You'll love that the mini grip disappears a lot easier than a full grip. You'll always know that your'e carrying a full grip.

Or if you dont find yourself leaning largely to one side of those categories and want something in the middle:
The Doug Ritter mini grip in m390.

Ill always choose a 3" for 95% of use unless its for building/yardwork/outdoors.
*Note* I have xl hands :D

For my use, it's 3" blades or under. I can do everything with a mini that I can do with the bigger one, but not vice versa. It's strictly based on need for me, nothing personal about it.

Kinda cool, but after my first post I had to cut up a bunch of these cellular plastic protective bumpers...not sure what this material is actually....

This is the reason my EDC's are always around 3.5-3.75 inches, you just don't know what you might need to do.

Ya, I could do this with a 3 inch blade, but it would take twice as long and be half the fun.

I happen to LOVE the Mini Grip, and always have. I really, really like the new Mini Grip w/ G-10 & upgraded steel; it feels fantastic in the hand, and sits nicely in the pocket.

I like thin, lightweight knives, so the mini won out for me. It's also the perfect blade length for basic light duty edc. Have no use for a full sized grip since I have lighter and better ergo knives with the same or longer blade length.

Both are good I like the large better. Go Ritter it's the best griptilian blade 👍
