Benchmade Must Haves?

I finally got one, although this one has no green Micarta portion. This knife is bigger than I thought it would be. It was a pleasant surprise. The handle fills the hand comfortably and feel extremely sturdy.

Very nice. I too was surprised at the size and weight of the 615 "mini" Rukus, but as I said before, you learn to love every bit of it.

Did you opt for the full black handle? I think the ones with the partially tan scales are becoming relatively difficult to find these days. I personally really like the micarta part, just wanted to see what your opinion is.

Great purchase, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

The ones that have the 2 tone handles are hard to come by, but they are out there. I really like this knife, and for being a mini it's impressive. Now, I have to see about getting the Rift. :)

I wish I had never got rid of my 710. It was a stout folder with great ergos for my hands. I think this thread has just put me on a new mission to acquire another 710.:D

:)

If I had to give up my Benchmade folders, save one, I'd keep the 710. Mine is unbelievably smooth. It's wicked fast and just between BIG & SMALL.

One easy & important mod - I took some 400 grit sand paper & lightly rolled the edge of the G-10 around the thumbstud. I did this very lightly and in a few minutes time using my fingertip - you'd never see it w/o being shown the spot. This allows easy access to the otherwise tight thumbstud. :)

Not wanting to rehash what's already been said, I've got a Nimravus strapped to my tac-vest that I absolutely love. D2 so it'll take the punishment.

14205, everyone should at least give that knife a try. Very good handle ergonomics, very capable for a 3.4" blade.

Exactly. I don't know how they did it, but it's a surprisingly small folder with a 3.9" blade. My 806 has a 3.96 inch blade (or, it has a blade that's 0.06" longer) but it's more than half an inch longer overall.

Buy another :D

Anyone have love for the 672? I think it looks like a cool knife. The ability to go from assist to manual is nice too.

Hey Wouter, how do you find the ergonomics on that knife? Is it a little chunky or small in hand for you?

My hand have a regular size I suppose. The MPR is quite beefie. I like that in a knife. The thickness makes up for its shortness. The ergonomics are okay for me. When a knife is a bit bigger its easyer to make its ergonomics better. But it feels good without sharp or irritating edges etc.

Thanks Wouter. I'm trying to find one in my local area so I can see it in person. I have not decided against it 100%, just initial impressiosn made me hesitant to puruse it any further. Appreciate the images as well, very nice.

I love my rift and my 760. I love Bob Lum tantos, and the Spydercos are impossible to find anymore.

I'm looking to add a Skirmish some day.

Hi Turbo, I fully agree on the Lum Tanto. I'd love to have one of the Spyderco made ones. Maybe a sprint run will pop up some day.
I thought about getting the Benchmade Lum, just never pulled the trigger.

Of course I somehow convinced myself that it was completely worth it and
pulled the trigger yesterday on one of the limited edition Rifts with the CF scales.

I guess for being 1 in 200, the sub $200 shipped pricetag isn't all that bad..

Can't wait! :D

Nice catch Fuzillade. I ended up with 2 of the Mini Ruckus limited edition of 100 too.

The 580 and 585 barrage haven't been mentioned much lately.I recently picked up a 585 and was pleasantly surprised that it fired nice and strong like a switchblade.Wow, what a knife.

The Barrage is nice, but I really don't like the auto-axis. Yeah it opens very fast, but non-assisted axis folders open very fast and smooth as well, to me, the spring-assist really just gets in the way when you close the knife.

No Love for the Benchmite?
I loved my 3100-402 but I decided to add it to the TSA collection.
I also Loved my 10610 but it had a habit of jumping out of my pocket one to many times :(

If I ever get the chance I will find another 3100-402 and keep it as a special occasion knife and not an edc.

Ooh I think this is my first post, :)
