Im new to the knife world. So far ive been strictly a Kershaw man have Blur ZT301ST but reason i posted this question is because i recently ordered my first Benchmade knife the other day but its not supposed to be here till tomorrow! So to people more knife experienced which do you think is better knives & why? My EDC now is the ZT301ST & after tomorrow it going to be a Benchmade Adamas Auto with tan handle. Whats really driving me crazy is i live right outside Knoxville & yesterday i Checked the UPS tracking number & saw were my new knife is in Knoxville right now. I wish i could just go pick it up right now than have to wait another day! Also like i said im new to the knife world. So if anyone likes a brand other than Kershaw or Benchmade let me know it to & why? Thanks guys & gals!

Those are both great knives. I have one of each. You will be happy with them!

As far as folders go: Spyderco makes some really good knives as well. After that you get into the more expensive custom and semi-customs. (DDR, Hinderer, CRK, Lambert, etc.)

Yep the big three are Kershaw, Benchmade and Spyderco. I have the most Spyderco followed by Benchmade then Kershaw/ZT. As far as Benchmade vs Kershaw, I prefer Benchmade due to the higher end steels used, less recurves and liner locks, I actually only have one Kershaw which is an OD-1 (I also prefer blades in the 3.5-4" range which is less available in the Kershaw line up) that I really like. Benchmade vs ZT on the other hand is a different story, I'm not sure I could pick which brand I like better, I have a ZT 560 and ZT 200 that I really like for ZTs and may go for a ZT 302 or 303 at some point. I also have 3 M390 Benchmade sprint runs (710,805,806) that are awesome and just picked up a Contego 810 friday that may become one of my favorites.

I like Kershaw and ZT above the rest, I like the look and feel of their knives. And their warranty cant be beat.

All are great brands, and all are great knives, but I almost always will take a benchmade over any brand.

Benchmade is a good brand and I'm sure you'll like your knife.
Kershaw/ZT is an awesome brand with a CS that can't be beat. Also they have awesome knives and some awesome prices.
Spyderco is my personal favorite. They are just GOOD lol.

right now I have been favoring my adamas over my ZT0560. I really like the axis lock. It may change in a few weeks. But the action, lock up, and fit and finish of the Adamas is fantastic (as is the 0560, it's just not a comfortable of a knife)

ZT for medium to large folders that have an aura of toughness.

Spyderco for great slicers and fit and finish; plus more variety of steel types and designs.

I would prefer Kershaw over BM any time, Its more knife for the bill :)

ZT for hard use and Spyderco for the less

I have always been a big Benchmade guy, but I do like Zero Tolerance a lot, but I only own a couple plain jane Kershaws. It's all strictly personal preference. No one company is really better IMO. They all make different knives so it's all very subjective.

This is the correct answer, IMO.

As far as build quality, they will be about the same.

I much prefer Kershaw for their forum presence though.

Benchmade over Kershaw any day. Although the ZT line has really been impressing me, and Benchmade hasnt been making much that I find appealing. But I find hardly any Kershaws past, present, or future appealing. I like the Hinderer ZTs a lot though.

Spyderco has been my favorite lately.

Benchmade.

I got started because their most popular models allow for left handed carry.

Not too Kershaws do.

I have both Benchmade and Kershaw. My view is generally Benchmade makes some really lovely knives, but theay are more collectibles . For good value and daily use Kershaw wins. I have far more Kershaw than Benchmade.

Not fond of the funky blade shapes that are the result of the hole for opening in Spyderco

MY favorite knife brand is Spyderco and the second place brand would be Benchmade. I've had a couple of Kershaws and they don't match the quality of Spyderco and Benchmade's products.

Personally, Kershaw and ZT are my favorites for modern knives. As many have said already, Kershaw, ZT, Benchmade, and Spyderco are all making high quality production knives. My collection is mostly Kershaw/ZT, followed by Spyderco, then Benchmade. You can't go wrong with a knife from any of these companies. It all depends on your personal preferences. The best thing is to actually handle them and see which one you like more.

However, the real BFC answer to the question is buy both.

And then buy some more. :D
