Benchmade QC issues?

When i was working at a local sporting goods store in the knife Dept. Benchmade was one of the biggest selling knives, we could not keep the Infidel's in stock and we could only get a few at a time from our distributor.

But for the OTF knives we sold the ones that really stood out for their quality and their demand, were the Microtech knives.

We also sold a lot of Kershaws Zero Tolerance Spyderco Case CRKT Chris Reeves Medford also many others.

At my local gun shows there are at least 3 full line Benchmade dealers so they are popular and selling well. There are usually a lot more OTF BMs available at gun shows than Microtechs. I have side opening BM autos but I too prefer Microtech OTF to BM OTF.

When you sold knives did people bring back Benchmades for uneven grinds like above?

I never remember any buyer of a Benchmade knife return it for any problem or a quality issue maybe to change a clip location, we always opened a brand new box and let the customer inspect the knifes, i also looked at it before handing it to customer.
Also never had any Benchmade knifes brought back for a quality problem, did have some who over oiled their knives causing operation problems, i just used my Hoppes Blast&Shine to wash the oil out, then i told them don't oil it at all and it won't fail again.
The only problem i had was getting cut by knifes on display when reaching into the display cases, we kept a lot of bandaid's and peroxide around as we all got cut many times.
When i handed a knife to a customer i would say the Boss says i can get cut, but the customer can't just to put them on guard.

You had a great reply makes the customer think, but respects their intelligence.

Thanks for sharing your retail perspective.

Thank you for your kind reply, i just wish i was still working at that store, they had some family who needed work so that ended my stint in selling knives, i really liked helping people in getting their questions answered, the owner of the store a lady said to me one day she said you know i can sell five handguns, while you are trying to sell one knife, i replied there are just three reasons a person buys a handgun, 1 Self Defence 2 Target shooting 3 To kill someone, but people have hundreds maybe thousands of reasons to buy a knife.
She just looked at me said nothing and walked away.
