i have a BM 42 my wife bought for me in 1986 i think it was, carried and used the knife for years and years...in Aug 2005 our home was mostly washed away during Hurricane Katrina, approx 32 ft of water at my location...the BM 42 was left at home, by accident i assure you, when we evacuated...i found the knife (and 2 others) in about a foot or so of mud and silt, unbelievable, but there it was...i almost cried at the shape the knives were in...i then proceeded to wrap the knife in leather, put it in storage and again "lost" the knife till around Aug 2010...
i asked around the forum and was advised to contact BM for repairs...so i did...
emailed BM...explained my problem and even with no receipt,,,Dianna Daniels said "send it in"...so i did....
i got the knife back in as good shape as they could make it...pitted and everything...they were so apologetic for not being able to do better,,,but as i told them...they did an excellent excellent job considering what they had to work with...
Dianna Daniels and BM were absolutely wonderful to me and my old knife,,,i simply can't say enough about the wonderful way my knife and i were treated...
Thanks DDaniels and BM..from the bottom of my heart..
